Adelbert Morgan COLBY was born in JUL 1863 in Aurora, Erie County, New York. He died about 23 JUL 1885 at St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.
The Alexandria Post, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota
Friday, July 31, 1885, page 4, col. 2.

Friday morning’s St. Paul daily papers contained reports of the killing of an unknown man, by a Northern Pacific passenger train, in the railroad yards of that city. Sunday Morning, Mr. J. A. Colby received a telegram from East Aurora, New York, stating that deceased was Adelbert Colby, son of Royal Colby of this village. Mr. Colby immediately telegraphed to St. Paul, and the remains were expressed to Alexandria, and interred in Kinkead cemetery Monday morning. Deceased had formerly been a resident of East Aurora, and it is supposed that his friends in that place learned of his death and identified him by means of papers or letters found on his person and forwarded to them by the railroad company. Adelbert Colby was twenty-two years of age, and at one time had been engineer on a switch-engine at Fargo. It is not known what he was doing in St. Paul. At the time of his death he was standing on the track when he saw a freight train approaching, and stepping to another track was struck by the passenger train coming from the opposite direction.
