Garrett Colby-Lifelong Resident of Vicinity of Corfu Died After a Short Illness

Corfu, Jan 2.
Garrett Colby, a lifelong resident in this vicinity, died at his home yesterday morning at 10:45 o'clock of pleuro-pneumonia. Mr Colby was employed as night fireman at the Scott Greenhouses and was ill when he went home from his work. Monday morning, growing gradually worse until the end came.

Mr Colby was born in the town of Darien on the Colby road, about two miles southeast of Corfu on March 2, 1858. On July 24, 1884 he was married to Clara Senn of Pembroke, who survives him. Other survivors are four children. Garrett R. Colby of Mentor, Clara of Buffalo and Gladys and Robert who live at home: four brothers and two sisters. Henry of Batavia, Mrs John Taft and Joseph Colby of South Auburn, Neb, Alexander of Darien, Frank of Mentor, Mrs Caroline Van De Vort of Corfu. Mr Colby was a member of the Corfu Methodist Protestant Church and of the Corfu I.O.O.F. lodge.

BRADENTON, FLA. — Gary S. Colby, 61, formerly of AuSable Forks passed away Sept. 9, 2006, following a long illness.

He was born April 12, 1945, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Lila Colby and the late Scott Colby.

Gary loved old cars and trucks, buying and selling merchandise and was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

He is survived by his mother, Lila (Bashaw) Colby of Champlain, N.Y.; his brother, B. Scott Colby and Vicky Snow of Moores, N.Y.; his three sisters, Debbie (Russell) Moore of Wynantskill, N.Y., Donnie Colby of Champlain, N.Y., and Sharron (Terrance) Cumm of Keeseville, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Roberta (David) in Florida.

Gary was predeceased by his father, Scott Colby; his brother, David Colby; and sister, Ruth Woodside.

He leaves two daughters, Marilyn Sherry of Pennsylvania and Sandra Trimm of Malone, N.Y.; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, who are saddened by his leaving.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Glen Wood Cemetery, Champlain, N.Y.

CANE BEDS, Ariz. - Geneen Emaline Colby, age 69, passed away Aug. 29th, 2006 peacefully at home of natural causes. She was born Aug. 16th, 1937 in Huntington, Utah to Eldwin R. Colby and Zina LoRee Marshall. She was sealed to her parents in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1999.

Geneen is survived by her son Darrold R. Straley, son Robert Dale Straley, daughter Ennette Geneen (Steve) Brown, siblings Berneice, Diane, Joyce, Bill, Lew, Jay, Elree, and ten step brothers and sisters. She was proceeded in death by her father Eldwin R. Colby, mother Zina LoRee Marshall Colby, brother Irvin Dee Colby, and brother Eldwin Clive Colby.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5th, 2006 at 11:00 am (UT time) at the Kaibab Ward Chapel in Moccasin, Arizona. Friends may call from 9:00-10:45 am (UT time). Internment will be held at the Moccasin Cemetery.
