Miss Grace Colby, daughter of Mr. C. K. Colby, was married on Tuesday evening
to Mr. Charles B. Tebo. The ceremony occurred at the residence of the bride's
father, 323 President St.. Rev. Warren C. Hubbard, D.D., pastor of St. Paul's
Episcopal Church, officiated. The bride was attired in a costume of white satin
with vail of tulle. In her hand she carried a bouquet of white roses. Mr. Stanton
Day acted as best man. The ushers were Messrs. Harry R. Elliott and Albert L.

Grace A. Bent
TILTON — Grace Arabella (Colby) Bent, 102, a former resident of the Northfield-Tilton areas, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen.
She was born in Clinton, Mass., July 24, 1898, daughter of George H. and Catherine M. (Carruth) Colby. She graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1913, and attended business college in Worcester, Mass.
She married Charles H. Bent of Clinton in 1920.
She had lived independently until age 94 and had lived in Lynn and Springfield, Mass., and Calais, Maine, following her husband’s career moves and retirement in Northfield in 1965.
While living in Lynn, Mrs. Bent was active in church and community affairs and president of the Washington Street Baptist Church Women’s Association, president of the Lynn YMCA Mother’s Club and president of the Highland School PTA. In Springfield she was a leader in the Park Memorial Baptist Church women’s groups and was a Girl Scout Leader as well. She was active in church work in Calais, Maine, and in the Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church in Tilton where she sang in the choir for a number of years.
While living in the Tilton-Northfield area, she was a member of and former president of the Garden Club and was active in the Women’s Club and Eastern Star.
Mrs. Bent was dedicated to her family and throughout her long life maintained a strong sense of humor which stayed with her to the very end. She was a fine person, loved by many.
She was predeceased by her husband, George H. Bent, who died Sept. 1, 1970.
Her family includes three sons, C. Colby Bent of Lyme, Dr. Donald F. Bent of New London, and George H. Bent of Claremont; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen C. Slanetz of Keene; numerous nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. in the Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church, Main Street in Tilton, immediately followed by a reception in her memory at the church. A family friend, the Rev. David McIlhiney of Claremont, will officiate and organist will be Lynn Bastis. Interment was in the family lot in Park Cemetery. Her family suggests that contributions be sent to the Edna C. McKenna Trust Fund, c/o Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303-2410.
The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is in charge.

EASTPORT - Grace J. (Colby) Plomer, 82, of Eastport, was taken by her Lord, among the loving gathering of her caring family, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire, on Jan. 22, 2004. She was taken to her home in the sky to await the future arrival of her husband, Ed, who cared for her for the past three years, as she battled the effects of Alzheimer's at their home on Torch Lake.
She was born on July 18, 1921, in Owosso. She worked as a secretary in Lansing following her graduation from Owosso High School. She met her husband, Ed (a 1943 Michigan State Graduate), in 1943, and followed him as much as possible, as a Navy wife for three years. Their marriage on Nov. 20, 1944, at Wilshire Methodist Church in Los Angeles, Calif., later produced five adoring children.
The family spent many years vacationing at Torch Lake prior to building a permanent home there. Their children attended Redford High School- Bishop Borgess High School, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University when they lived in Detroit, in South Rosedale Park. Grace enjoyed the exploits of her boys in Baseball at Stoepel Park nearby.
While in Owosso, Grace was an accomplished pianist, accompanying her Aunt, who was the organist at the local Methodist Church. She was a golf enthusiast, playing at Antrim Dells near Torch Lake, but essentially a homemaker devoted to her husband and children. She will be missed so much by her loving family.
Along with her husband, Ed, of 59 years, she is survived by five children, Michael E. (Nanette) Plomer of Wilton, Conn., Linda M. (Robert) Gandee of Concord Twp., Ohio, Thomas J. (Jackie) Plomer of Brighton, Edward J. (Kimberly) Plomer Jr. of Bloomfield Twp., and James R. (Linda) Plomer of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Roy L. (Julie) Colby of Jackson, and Joseph (Nancy) Colby of Kalamazoo; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Rudy and Wayne Colby; her special Aunt, Lucille M. Colby; and her parents.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow immediately, at 4 p.m., also at the Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel C. Clark will officiate. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township, when weather conditions allow.

COLBY, Miss Grace Louise Colby, age 94, Newburyport native, died Friday evening, August 17, 2007 at Country Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Newburyport.
Born in Newburyport, June 10, 1913, she was the daughter of the late James Murray and Edna Louise (Titcomb) Colby and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
A veteran of World War II, Grace served with the WAVES of the U. S. Navy from May 10, 1943 until being honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on August 9, 1945. She was very proud of her military service during which time she was a public relations reporter, interviewing navy fliers returning from their tour of duty, sharing their achievements and heroic actions in publications throughout the country.
Upon her return to civilian life, Grace worked for the Byfield Public Library and wrote columns for the Newburyport Daily News, which her grandfather once owned. Grace was an avid reader and loved bird-watching and driving.
She was especially close to her cousin, Richard Thompson, who predeceased her, and his wife Kay, and leaves behind dear friends, including John and Ann Bell of Byfield.
A graveside service for relatives and friends will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
