Harold "Hal" Colby died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at his home after complications from a stroke. Hal was born April 2, 1927, in Denver, CO to Burns and Elsie Colby.

Hal's ancestry includes 19th Century Colorado pioneers, Ben and Mary Carver, who settled in Antonito, Colorado in 1890. From Antonito they moved to Creed where Ben Carver had an interest in the Amethyst Mine. Ben and Mary moved to Denver in the early 1900's and Ben Carver became both a Colorado State Senator and Colorado State Representative. Hal's Mother, Elsie, was born in Denver to Ben and Mary.

He was in charge of moving the church organ from the 6th and White church location to the current location on Cortland Avenue and 27 1/2 Road. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a special joy to him. The annual trip with the entire clan to Trappers Lake meant a great deal to him.
