Born Sept. 18, 1913 in Haverhill, Ma. she was the daughter of Harry W. and Grace (Foisy) Colby.
Mrs. Grant lived on Piscassic Road, Newfields for many years, before moving to Marshall Farms, Exeter and most recently to Riverwoods.
She devoted her life to her family, and the family-operated business, The Kingston-Warren Corp. in Newfields.
She was a member and devoted patron of the Newfields Community Church.
Her husband, Herbert A. Grant, died in 1986.
Survivors include her son, Herbert A. Grant Jr. of Rye; her daughter, Mrs. William (Barbara) Chick of Newfields; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Colby of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister, Charlene Bradley of Miami, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.

Burial will be in private and at the convenience of the family.

May 2, 1923, at the age of 65 years. he was a native of Libertyville and grew to manhood in this city. when about 25 years of age he went to Russell, IL. where he was engaged in the mercantile business. Later he moved to Kansas, locating at Syracuse. A widow and three children survive him. Byron Colby and Mrs. E.W. Parkhurst of Libertyville are brother and sister of the deceased.

PFC JACK R. COLBY OF AU SABLE FORKS IS KILLED IN ACTION.
PFC Jack R. Colby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Colby of Green Street, was killed in action March 4 in Italy, according to a telegram received by his wife, Mrs. Margaret M. Colby of Au Sable Forks, Wedneday, from the War Department. The telegram reads as follows:
went overseas, was drafted in 1944. To express his deep regret that your husband, Pfc. Jack R. Colby, was killed in action March 4th in Italy. Confirming letter follows. J. A. Ulio, the Adjutant General."
Pfc. Colby who married before he went orerseas, was drafter in 1944. He was formerly employed by the Coleman Lumber Company. He attended school in Au Sable Forks and was well and favorably known by many local people. Besides his parents and wife he Is survived by a brother, Jesse Colby of Green Street.
He was buried in Ausable Forks, Clinton County, New York.
