Colby, Jesse E. (13 AUG 1870 - 28 FEB 1903)
Jesse Elery Colby died at his home Feb. 28, 1903. He was born in Easton, Adams So, Wis., Aug. 13, 1870, and came with his parents to Clark County, Wis. when nine years of age. July 4, 1898 he was married to Annie Emma Limprecht. Two children were born to them, Norman Elery, June 4, 1899, and Amy Sophia, Nov. 21, 1900. Although his illness had been lingering for some time we were greatly surprise to hear of his sudden death. We feel deeply the loss of our beloved friend and neighbor. His life has been that of an honest and true man, a loving husband and father. During the last hours of his illness he was a patient sufferer, til death took him from us. He leaves a wife and two children, besides a father, mother, three brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss. We all extend our heartfelt sympathy to these friends in their sorrow. Funeral services were held at the house at 1 p.m. on Monday, conducted by Pastor A. Bell.

FILLED MANY ROLES AT HER CHURCH
Jessie C. Norton, 84, of Winship Street died Tuesday at Winship Green Nursing Center.
A lifelong resident of Bath, she was a daughter of Henry R. and Emma B. (Grover) Colby and attended Bath schools. She graduated from Morse High School in 1927.
She was married to Francis W. Norton, who died in 1982.
Mrs. Norton was an active member of the Corliss Street Baptist Church, serving as the church clerk and as a member of the Missionary Society and the Free Will Workers. She taught the Philathea class and Sunday school and also served as the primary superintendent of Sunday school.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan N. Franzosa of Marshfield, Mass., and Jean N. Colfer, Edith N. Owens and Nancy E. Richter, all of Bath; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mayo, Curtis & Hill Funeral Home, 819 High St. with the Revs. Floyd M. Carter and James A. Purington officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in the spring.
