Susan Colby, 39, of Goodland, formerly of Kensington and Smith Center, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Goodland Regional Medical Center. Surviving are her parents, Darryl and Marilyn Colby of Goodland; Grandmother, Frances Musalek of Goodland; sister, Sheri Smith of Kingman; brothers, Steven Colby and wife Stacy of Goodland, Stacey Colby and wife Melissa of Smith Center, Shawn Colby and wife Melissa of Hays, and Scott Colby and wife Stacie Ann of Layton, Utah, several nieces and nephews. The funeral was Wednesday morning at the Calvary Gospel Church in Goodland with burial in the Goodland Cemetery.

GOODLAND -- Susan L. Colby, 39, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009. She was born April 30, 1970, in Smith Center.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Frank Musalek and Clinton and Wanda Colby. Surviving family includes her grandmother, Frances Musalek, and parents, Darryl and Marilyn Colby, all of Goodland; sister, Sherri Smith, of Kingman; brothers, Steven (Stacy), of Goodland, Stacey (Melissa), of Smith Center, Shawn (Melissa), of Hays, and Scott (Stacie), of Layton, Utah.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. MT Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Calvary Gospel Church, Goodland. Memorials to the Susan Colby Memorial, in care of Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland 67735.

TOBEY, SUSAN LUCRETIA (COLBY) died 11/17/1961. She was born in Plymouth 5/27/1887, the daughter of Captain George Colby and Lulu Mitchell. Her father was a Spanish-American War veteran. He was the station master in Plymouth for many years. She was a lifetime resident of Plymouth, with the exception of 16 years spent at the estate called “Lucknow,” now known as “Castle in the Clouds,” which her husband owned. She married Fred C. Tobey and it was at the mansion that they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. In 1960 they purchased the George C. Clark estate in West Plymouth and transferred their stables of horses to that location.
