FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. COLGATE TO BE HELD HERE.................
Funeral services for Mrs. Hope Hubbell Conkling Colgate, who died Tuesday in an invalid home in Milledgeville, Ga., will be held at the Old First Church, Old Bennington, and burial will be in Old Bennington Cemetery. Arrangements are being completed by a daughter, Mrs. Mathew Cleveland and her husband of Riverdale, N. Y. The time of of the services will be announced Thursday. Mrs. Colgate was 87 years old, the widow of James Colby Colgate, who was chairman of the board of James Colgate & Co., a New York brokerage firm and also grandson of William Colgate, founder of what is now the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Colgate University was also named after William Colgate. Mr. Colgate died on Feb. 26, 1944 leaving Mrs. Colgate a trust fund of $1,000,000. She had been particularly active in a Protestant missionary group that did much welfare work in France in World War I. She received the French Legion of Honor for her services. Both Mr. and Mrs. Colgate were widely known for their generosity to worthwhile projects in the community and both church and other groups have benefited through their philanthropies. Mrs. Colgate lived in the 50-room mansion only a few years following her husband's death. The structure is now being demolished and only the walls remain of the three-story home. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Cleveland, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. John Sloane of New York City, eleven grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Daniel COOK

Funeral service were held in the Teasdale ward chapel Saturday afternoon for Daniel Cook, 73, who died of heart trouble Friday at his home in Teasdale. Interment was in the Torrey cemetery.
Mr. Cook is survived by his widow and the following children: Marion Cook of Caineville, Clarence, Lavar and Melvin Cook of Torrey, Leland Cook of White Pine, Idaho, Mrs. Nelda Lyman of Teasdale, Mrs. Wallis Blackburn of Loa, Mrs. James Ames of Duchesne, and Mrs. Edward Powell of Circleville.

He was born April 11, 1938 in Salina, Utah, a son of Melvin Athus and Nelda Mott Cook. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1956. He joined the US Army in 1957 as a mechanic. He served in the Korean Conflict.

Don married Laurel Fausett, April 6, 1960 and they later divorced. He married Donna Taylor, November 23, 1963 in Bountiful, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, April 2, 1965.

Don served as Wayne County Justice of the Peace from 1975 to 1986. He was Torrey Town Councilman and Mayor.

He was active in the LDS Church, serving in many positions. He liked to hunt and fish and he enjoyed traveling, especially to Church History Sites. He mostly loved being with his family.
Don worked road construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He also ran the family farm.

He loved the role of husband, father and grandfather. He was always concerned about the welfare of his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Donna, of Torrey; children: Sherry Lynn and John Kohler of Rosarito, Mexico; Kerry and Paige Cook of Fremont; Luana and Roger Oyler of Torrey; 12 grandchildren; brother, Norris and Claudia Cook of Torrey; foster brother, Vincent and Meriddie Craig of White River, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Deral Dwen Cook and Kerry Jay Cook; and a nephew, Larry Joe Cook.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

TORREY - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Don Lamont Cook, 70, died Sept. 12, 2008, in Salt Lake City, after a valiant battle with leukemia.

Compassionate services will be provided by the Torrey LDS ward Relief Society.

A family prayer will be offered by Darryl B. Taylor (brother-in law), and the invocation given by Verland King.

Prelude and postlude music to be performed by Jessie Pace.

Musical selections planned are congregational hymns, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and “God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again,” both accompanied by organist Jessie Pace with chorister, Paige Cook (daughter-in-law); “Nearer My God To Thee” by nieces, Amy Taylor and Doni Horrocks; and a vocal solo, “How Great Thou Art,” by Natalie Taylor (niece), and both accompanied by Kay Durfey.

Tributes will be provided by Luana Oyler (daughter) and Paige Cook.

The speakers will be Sheldon Taylor (brother-in-law) and Kerry Cook (son), remarks will be provided by Vance Morrill.

The Benediction is to be given by Vincent Craig (foster brother).

Pallbearers include grandsons, Dustin Oyler, Bronson Oyler, Riley Cook, Austin Cook and Nelson Cook; and Roger Oyler (son-in-law).

Honorary pallbearers include Norris Cook, Don Torgerson, Sam Taylor, Troy Taylor, Darryl B. Taylor, Shane Cook, Vincent Craig, Scott Taylor, Perry Taylor, Cory Taylor, Jesse King, Charlie Taylor, and bishops Leon Bogedahl, Verland King, Sheldon Taylor, Lemoyne Peterson, and Duane Buchanan.

Interment with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Torrey Cemetery, and the dedicatory prayer will be offered by Kerry Cook (son).
