Aurora, Utah - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Arva Simpson Shaw, age 78, of Aurora, died November 20, 2008 in Murray, Utah. She was born December 7, 1929 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Mike and Mable Leona Watts Simpson.

She married Carol Wayne Shaw, December 7, 1946 in Gunnison, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 20, 1957.

Arva was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. She and her husband, Carol, served as missionaries at the Church Store House in Sigurd for 8 years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, doing handiwork, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of Aurora; son: Mike and Joanne Shaw of Aurora; 3 grandchildren: Jamie Shaw, Nicole and Travis Christiansen, Jason Shaw; and 1 great-granddaughter: Maggie Jo Christiansen; sisters and brothers: Leora Sorenson, Viola Larsen, Stanley and DeNeece Simpson, Bobby and Kena Simpson, all of Salina.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Salina, Utah - Bobby J. Simpson, age 74, of Salina, died September 29, 2009 in Gunnison, Utah.
He was born March 28, 1935 in Axtell, Utah, a son of Mike and Mabel Leona Watts Simpson. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, Class of 1953.

Bobby served his country six years in the US Army. He married Kenna Deanna Keisel, September 8, 1962 in Ely, Nevada.

Bobby loved to spend time with his grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and bricklaying. He loved his animals. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Kenna, of Salina; his children: Travis Simpson, Raymond and Julie Simpson, and Robert Simpson, all of Richfield; Troy and Connie Simpson, Wynette and Greg Langford, all of Salina; Debra and Curtis Peterson of Redmond; and Gordon Simpson of Utah; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Stanley and DeNeece Simpson, and Viola Larsen, all of Salina.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Junior Simpson; two grandsons: Michael Robert Simpson and Troy Don Simpson, Jr.; two sisters: Leora Peterson Sorensen and Arva Shaw.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Leora Simpson Peterosn Sorenson, age 82, died April 27, 2009 in Provo, Utah. She was born December 3, 1926 in Axtell, Utah, a daughter of Mike and Mable Leona Watts Simpson.

She married Milton Alonzo “Lefty” Peterson, September 25, 1945 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple September 25, 1993. He died March 16, 2001.

She married Cecil A. Sorenson, May 3, 2003 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died June 11, 2006.

She is survived by her children: SusAnn and Chad Beach, Loretta Quarnburg, all of Salina; step-children: Kerry W. And Karen Sorenson, Kim J. And Verna Sorenson, all of Aurora; Cherlyn and Will Taylor of Fremont; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way; sister and brothers: Viola Larsen, Stanley and DeNeece Simpson, Bobby and Kenna Simpson, all of Salina; Arva (Deceased) and Carol Shaw of Aurora.

She was preceded in death by two children: Gay and Paul Ivie, and Eugene Milton Peterson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Virginia Fairfax Colby, 94, of Falls Church, Va. passed away on November 24, 2007.

Born in New York City in 1913, she spent most of her life in the Washington, DC area.

She attended the St. Agnes School for Girls in DC and Sullins College in Bristol, Va.

In 1937 she married Merrill Eldon Colby at the old Christ Episcopal Church in Alexandria.

Survivors include her three daughters, Marilyn Fairfax Colby, Vergie Lee Colby, and Jeanette Winter Ott; her son, Merrill Eldon Colby; five brothers, Winter Bradley, Robert Elwood, George Anthony, John Fairson and Stephen Colby Simpson; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday (December 1, 2007) at Christ Church, 118 N. Washington Street, Alexandria at 12:00PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax.
