A memorial service for Virginia B. Colby, 78, of 53 S. Main St., will be at the convenience of the family.
Mrs. Colby died Sunday in Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 12.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.
She was a homemaker.
Born June 13, 1922, in Massena, daughter of Frank and Agnes Garrett Southworth, she married C. Walter Colby and was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation.
Surviving besides her husband are a son and his wife, Philip and Kathy, Fairport; a sister, Vivian DeLosh, Massena; three grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
A brother, Harold Southworth, died before her.
Donations may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the Church of the Visitation.

Our mother, Enid Mable Spain Colby, left this world for a better place on February 8, 1997.
She was born May 11, 1911, to Arthur Thomas Spain and Annie Elizabeth Oliver Spain in Hull, Yorkshire, England.
She was married to our father, Boyd H. Colby (deceased) on November 11, 1945, in London, England, while he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. They later solemnized this marriage in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mom arrived at Ellis Island on July 4, 1946, with many other war brides. They were not allowed to disembark until the next day due to the July 4th national holiday.
She is survived by her daughters, Irene Whall (Greg), Diane Martin (John); and son, Ronald Colby. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her sons, Dennis Spain and Marvin Colby, preceded her in death.
Her favorite things during her lifetime here on earth were flowers, lots of color, the ocean, and any small child she came across. We will miss her strength and humor.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, at Memorial Estates, Redwood Road, where friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
