BETTY STEWART

Former Syracuse area resident Betty Alison Button Stewart, 66, died Sunday in Easton, Md.

A native of Black Brook, Mrs. Stewart was living in Greensboro, Md., at the time of her death. She retired in 1990 as a secretary and librarian after 10 years with Community-General Hospital. She previously operated Buttons Grocery Store in Sauquoit from 1966 to 1973. Mrs. Stewart was a 1942 graduate of Ausable Forks High School.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ridgely, Md.

Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Jr.; a son, Charles D. of Syracuse; four daughters, Kathleen "Betty" Vaccarelli of Frankfort, Barbara Jean Inserra of Poland, N.Y., Ruth Ann Lopez of Syracuse and Carol Louise Simchik of Durhamville; a sister, Nancy Czerkies of Annapolis, Md.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ridgely. Burial is in Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Md.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. today in the church.

Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Reservoir Circle, Suite 203, Baltimore 21208.

Services for Randall Button, 61, of 702 Reese Road, Frankfort, who died Thursday at Faxton-Children's Hospital, Utica, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, both in Frankfort. Spring burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 203 Second Ave.

A native of Black Brook, Mr. Button resided most of his life in Frankfort. He was the founder in 1949 of Herkimer Wholesale, Utica, which later acquired Costello Bros. Inc. of Syracuse, Button Bros. Inc. of Rochester and Lobells of Albany. At the time of his death, Mr. Button was chairman of the board of Herkimer Wholesale, the 32nd largest tobacco and candy wholesale distributor in the United States.

Mr. Button was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. He was former president and chairman of the board of the New York State Association of Tobacco and Candy Distributors.

Surviving are his wife, the former Rosemary Seppi; three sons, Michael of Frankfort, John of Rochester and James, at home; two daughters, Mary Jean Grippe of Frankfort and Jeri Ann Button, at home; two sisters, Betty Stewart of Syracuse and Nancy Czerkies of Frankfort; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

BALTIMORE, Nov. 23.--The wedding of Miss Marcelyn Elizabeth Boyden Buxton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bradbury Buxton, to Lieutenant Colby Guequierre Rucker, U.S.N., son of Mrs. William Colby Rucker of Washington and the late Colonel Rucker, U.S.A., took place this evening in Grace and St. Peter's Protestant Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Dr. Robert Scott Chalmers, rector, and the bride's uncle, the Rev. Clarence Edward Buxton of Greensboro, N. C., performed the ceremony.

Miss Medora Elaine Buxton of Detroit was her cousin's maid of honor. The other attendants were Miss Theodora Fenton Brooks, Mill Eleanor Seymour Zimmerman, Mrs. Howard I. Moss, Miss Anne Iglebart Hanford and Miss Hildegarde von Knobloch Denmead. The flower girl was Jane Elizabeth Buxton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Abell Buxton of Bethelhem, Pa.

John Davis of New York was best man for Lieutenant Rucker.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Mont Vernon Club.

Lieutenant Rucker and his bride will make their home in Annapolis until June.
