CARLIN, John - John CARLIN was born 13 September 1846 in County Durham, England. He came to America with his parents in 1854, and located in Mason County, West Virginia. During the Civil War, he enlisted as a Private in Co. C, 13th Regiment West Virginia Infantry under Captain William M. Hovey whose campaign was principally in defense of the Shenandoah Valley. John was at the front until receiving his honorable discharge at Wheeling. Soon after the war, he went to West Columbia, West Virginia and married Rebecca WOLF(E) in 1868. In 1884, they moved to Carbondale, Waterloo Township, Athens County, (Ohio) where they were active in church and community affairs. Their children were Dorah, George, and Elizabeth. John CARLIN died 24 September 1924 and was buried in Asbury Cemetery. (Taken from Civil War Veterans of Athens County, Ohio)

CARLIN, Rebecca - Rebecca WOLF was born in Jackson County, W.Va., June 5, 1847, and departed this life, after a few weeks illness, March 10, 1919, aged 71 years, 9 months, 6 days. She was united in marriage to John CARLIN in Point Pleasant, W.Va., November 21, 1868. To this union were born one son and two daughters, one daughter having preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, one son, one daughter, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, besides a large number of neighbors and friends. DILYARD, Andrea - Andrea Jannette DILYARD, daughter of Racquel (WILEY) and Michael DILYARD of Stryker, was stillborn on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in the Community Hospital of Williams County, Bryan.  Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Austin Thomas and a sister Abigail Jean-Marie Dilyard, both at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas DILYARD of Archbold, Peggy WINZELER of Archbold and Lamont WILEY of Liberty Center; and aunts and uncles.  Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.  (The Bryan Times, 5 February 2000)

DYE, Daniel - Morenci, March 24 (1942) - Daniel DYE, 87 years old, a native of this community for the last 74 years, died at his home here this morning at 7:30 o'clock. He had been ill for two or three days. He was born in New York state on February 26, 1855. He was a member of the Medina Lodge, F. & A.M. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ethel DYE, and one grandson, Hal DYE of Alma. A daughter, Mrs. Ethel DEWEY and a granddaughter preceded him in death. FERGUSON, Dora S. - Dora (SHALER) FERGUSON of 6705 Green Road, Ottawa Lake, Mich., Friday, October 13, 1967, age 87 years. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Kathryn HILLS, of Toledo, Mrs. Helen WESTGATE, of Adrian, Mich.; son, James FERGUSON of Southfield, Mich.; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services held at The Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Ohio, Monday, October 16th at 2 p.m. Interment Toledo Memorial Park. (Toledo Blade)

GEE, Mrs. Warren - Mrs. Warren (Martha) GEE, living 2-1/2 miles southeast of Morenci, was found dead in bed at 11 o'clock Saturday night. She was in Morenci in the afternoon and transacted business at the Wakefield bank, apparently as well as usual; and in the evening assisted her husband to hitch up the horse preparatory to going to town. Mr. GEE returned at the hour stated and found her dead. A post-mortem examination was made by Dr. Older, who pronounced the cause heart failure. She was 47 years of age and leaves a husband and one daughter, Mrs. Arthur GILLIS. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danforth KENNEDY. Three brothers and one sister remain to mourn her loss. GORMLEY, Doris Eileen - Doris Eileen (LASSEY) GORMLEY, born Feb. 9, 1923 in LaSalle, Michigan died Oct. 12, 1983 in Toledo, Ohio. Her father was Tracy LASSEY and her mother was Glenadine BOLTON. Survived by her husband Prentiss, Delta; sons, Mike and David, both of Delta; daughter, Sandra GEE, Baltimore, Md., brother, John LASSEY of Adrian, Mich., and six grandchildren. Memorial Service was held on Oct. 16, 1983 at Biehl-Malone in Metamora with private Interment at Amboy Township (Fulton Co., OH) Cemetery.

GORMLEY, Florence E. - Florence E. (PRENTISS) GORMLEY, age 90, a resident of Metamora (OH), died this morning, November 9, 1971, in Marigarde Nursing Home in Sylvania, where she had been a patient for the last 3 months. Mrs. GORMLEY was born in Metamora January 11, 1881, and spent her lifetime in the area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1942. She was a member of the Metamora Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Meredyth GOBBA of Royal Oak, Mich., Mrs. Winifred SHELTON of Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Joanna LANCASTER of Clinton, Mich., Mrs. Alice SCHAFER of Metamora; two sons, John of Troy, Ohio and Prentiss of Metamora; 15 grandchildren ; nine great-grandchildren. Services in the Biehl-Malone Funeral Home, Metamora, Thursday at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Amboy Township (Fulton Co., OH) Cemetery.

HOLLAND, Alice - beloved wife of Emerson, of 1846 Harlan Road, Toledo, Monday, February 6, (1950) age 44 years. Surviving besides her husband are daughter, Mrs. Lyman (Kathleen) KENNEDY, Toledo; two granddaughters; parents, Mr. and Mrs. George CARLIN, and brother Cecil CARLIN, of Carbondale, Ohio; sister Mrs. Olin (Jean) CARPENTER of Nelsonville. Services held Thursday, 1 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

HOLLAND, Lida - Lida BUCK was born June 9, 1866, and departed this life November 28, 1919, after a brief illness, aged 63 years, 5 months and 19 days. She was born and raised in Athens County and on February 12, 1885, she was united in marriage to James HOLLAND. To this union were born four sons and six daughters, all living. There is left to mourn her departure an aged father, Hiram BUCK, two sisters, four half-sisters, the husband and the following children: Mrs. Clara KENNAW, and Leola HOISINGTON, Toledo, Ohio; Lillian GRAHAM, Detroit, Mich.; Glenora BOND, Columbus, Ohio; Bessie JAMES and Basil of Athens, O.; Raymond of Barberton, O.; Hiram of Carbondale, O.; Emerson and Mildred at home and several grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends. JOHNSON, ELOISE F. - Eloise F. JOHNSON, 77, formerly of Sylvania, OH, passed away with a contented peaceful smile on her face, Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at Harborside of Sylvania.  She was employed at The Toledo Hospital retiring in the late 1970's.  Eloise was one of the founding members of the Sylvania First Christian Church, donating countless hours of time, and much personal effort, it was truly the love of her life.  She is survived by her sons, Jerry C. (Ella) of Lambertville, MI, William L., of Toledo, OH, and John J. (Sue) of Erie, MI.  Eloise had a special relationship with her grandchildren, Jeff, Todd, Jacy, Jason, Jerame and Chad, and her 4 great-grandchildren.  She cherished her relationship with her surviving sisters, Jean RILEY, Polly ROUTHE, and Bernadette "Beanie" ROUTHE who preceded her in death.  Friends are invited to attend memorial services at Sylvania First Christian Church, 5271 Alexis Road, Sylvania, OH 43560 Sunday, February 6, 2000 at 2 p.m.  Eloise dedicated her life to helping others, she will be missed.  The Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH, honored her request to be cremated.  Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider the Sylvania First Christian Church, Sylvania, OH.  (The Blade, Toledo OH, 5 February 2000)

KENNEDY, Asa A. - Morenci, Mich., May 6 (1912) - Asa A. KENNEDY, a pioneer business man of Morenci, died at 11:30 Sunday night in the 87th year of his age. He leaves one son, A. A. KENNEDY, who was his partner in the poultry pickery, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert LYMAN of Chicago, whose husband is reported very seriously ill. Of a family of five sons and two daughters he is now survived by only one brother, Lyman KENNEDY of this place. In the early days of Morenci, he conducted a general store on the site of the corner brick block which was burned Feb. 13 last. He built what was known as the Upper Hotel, many years since destroyed by fire. He resided in Adrian some 14 years, continuing there his stock buying operations and afterwards lived at Oxford, Iowa, Burlington, Wis., and Butler, Ind., returning here about 24 years ago. He was a man of much energy and activity even into the period of old age. The funeral will be held at the home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. (Adrian Daily Telegram, 6 May 1912, Page 1, Column 5)

KENNEDY, Danforth W. - Morenci, Mich., Sept. 24 (1907) - Danforth KENNEDY, aged 79 years, six months and nine days, died on Monday morning (Sept. 23, 1907) at his home on Main Street. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, at 2 o'clock, from the house. He had been failing for years, but Sunday night when he retired, was apparently as well as usual. About 3 o'clock Monday morning his daughter, Mrs. Geo. FURGUSON, heard a noise in his room, and going in, she found her father unconscious. He did not rally and died at 9 o'clock on Monday morning. Mr. KENNEDY was born in Berkshire County, Mass., and was a son of Mary and Asel KENNEDY. There were seven children, and Mr. KENNEDY was the last except Asa and Lyman KENNEDY, of Morenci, and Mary DURPHY, of Jonesville. Danforth KENNEDY married Caroline TURNER, who died a year ago on April 8. Four children are left, Nelson, Irving, Lyman A. KENNEDY and Mrs. Geo. FURGUSON. KENNEDY, (George) Irving - Morenci, Nov. 15 (1928) - Irving KENNEDY, aged 75 years, was found dead in bed in his home on East Street North, at 6 o'clock Thursday morning, by Mrs. KENNEDY. He had been in poor health for several years and last night had complained of not feeling as well as usual. Mr. KENNEDY was a member of a pioneer family of Morenci and had spent his entire life here. For many years he was a stock buyer. He is survived by the widow; one brother, Lyman, and one sister, Mrs. Daniel Dye, both of Morenci. An adopted daughter Florence, died about 34 years ago. KENNEDY, James Addison - James A. KENNEDY, age 76, of Manitou Beach, Mich., died Saturday (December 27, 1975) in a hospital in Bradenton, Fla., where he had been vacationing. He was formerly of the 3600 block of Maxwell Road. He was employed for 42 years by Railway Express Agency, Inc., retiring in 1959. Surviving are his wife, Rose; son, Lyman, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Eleanor PUGH of Adrian, Mich. Services were held at the Reeb Mortuary, Sylvania on Tuesday, December 30, 1975 with interment Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.

KENNEDY, Lyman A. - Morenci, Nov. 23 (1936) - Lyman A. KENNEDY, aged 78 years, died in his home on East Main Street at 10 o'clock this morning after a number of years illness. Mr. KENNEDY, a retired farmer, was born near Seneca and spent most of his life in and near Morenci with the exception of 13 years when he lived in Chicago. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, the Morenci Masonic lodge and the Adrian Commandery, Knights of Templar. He is survived by the widow Mrs. Anna KENNEDY, one sister Mrs. Daniel DYE of Morenci and two nephews in Toledo. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the home and the burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. The Rev. J. W. KENNEDY, Lyman Allen - age 64 of 5141 Fleet Road, died yesterday (October 23, 1985) in Flower Memorial Hospital. He had been a truck driver 28 years for the former REA Express, leaving there in 1969. Mr. KENNEDY then became an attendant at Piasecki's Service Station, Dorr Street, retiring in 1974. He was an army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen (HOLLAND), and daughters, Mrs. Colleen WILEY and Mrs. Charleen SNYDER, both of Liberty Center; and 5 grandchildren. Services were held at the Reeb Mortuary, Sylvania, Oh., with Interment in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. (The Toledo Blade, 24 October 1985.)

KENNEDY, Nelson A. - aged 61 years, at his home, 2418 Gasser Street, Saturday, September 6, 1913, at 3:45 a.m. He is survived by his widow and two sons, Elmer A., of 3119 Monroe St., and Burt E., who resides at the family residence; also two brothers in Morenci, Mich. and one sister of Canandaigua, Mich. Funeral from residence, Monday, September 8th, at 9 a.m., after which an automobile cortege will convey the remains and relatives to Morenci, Mich., where interment will be made. KENNEDY, Rose - Rose (STULL) KENNEDY, 77, of 6475 Hallenbeck Hwy., Manitou Beach, Mich., died Wednesday, February 28, 1979, at Toledo Hospital. She was born April 19, 1901 to John and Mary STULL. She married James KENNEDY and he died in December, 1975. Mrs. KENNEDY was a former resident of Toledo, a member of the Addison Methodist Church, a former officer of the Addison Chapter OES, a member of the Addison Senior Citizens and of the Addison Women's Club. Survivors include one son, Lyman, of Toledo; two granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. Service were held at the Neville Funeral Home, Dorr St., Toledo. Interment was held at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. (The Adrian Daily Telegram, 1 March, 1979.)

MANWARING, Joseph - JOSEPH MANWARING RITES HELD TUESDAY

Passed Away at His Home in Lulu Last Saturday at Age of 75

     Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Lulu, for Joseph Manwaring, who passed away at his home there last Saturday, January 5th, 1935.  He was 75 years of age.  Mr. Manwaring had seen ill for about a year, suffering from dropsy and heart trouble.
     The services were held at the Lulu Methodist Episcopal church, the Rev. Lorne Carter, of Samaria, pastor of the Samaria circuit, officiating.  Interment was in the Lulu cemetery.
     Mr. Manwaring was born in Hornsville, New York, Sept. 11, 1859, and in his youth moved to Traverse City.  After residing there for a short time he moved to Monroe county, residing in Whiteford township for a time and then moving to Lulu, where he made his home until his death.
     He was united in marriage on June 21, 1892 to Miss Elizabeth Tabbert, who survives him.  In addition to the widow he leaves one daughter, Mrs. John Bidle, of Riga; two sons - Ira, of Tecumseh, and Karl, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie McManus, of Traverse City, and Mrs. Flora Redway, of Lulu; and eight grandchildren.  Three sons and two daughters preceded him in death.

STANTON, Florence - age 70, of Metamora, Oh., November 29, 1978, at Flower Hospital. Survived by her sister, Mrs. Henry (Isabelle) PARKER of Swanton, Oh. Services were held at the Metamora United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday with Interment Amboy Township (Fulton Co., OH) Cemetery.

STARKEY, Guy C. - Guy C. STARKEY, 93 years, formerly of Reynolds Rd., Toledo, died Wednesday, February 26, 1997 in Briarfield of Sylvania Nursing Home. Mr. STARKEY was born in Henry County, OH on April 9, 1903 to Guy and Lucinda E. (CRAMER) STARKEY, and married Audra A. MOHLER on July 11, 1925 in Monroe, MI and she preceded him in death in 1981. Guy was a self-employed barber for 50 years owning shops at Nebraska and Miller Streets, Tremainsville Road, and Summit Street in Point Place under the name of Starkey's Barber Shop, and retired in 1981. Guy was a member of Spuyten-Duyval Golf Club for over 20 years and also enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Louise HUGHES of Toledo and Mrs. A. "Joan" (Joseph) USTASZEWSKI of Marion, OH; sons, Ordell "Bud" (Athalee) STARKEY of Graytown, OH and James A. (Kathy) STARKEY of Toledo; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Alice SPERRY of Napoleon, OH. Services held at the Neville Funeral Home, Dorr St. near Reynolds Rd., on Monday, March 3, 1997 at 11 a.m. Interment Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH

WARNER, Abbie - Mrs. Abbie WARNER, wife of D.J. WARNER, at the Toledo Hospital, Tuesday, June 18, 1907, aged 28 years.  Funeral from the residence of A.J. WARNER, 409 S. WARNER, David J. - David J. WARNER, 63, of 1419 Vinal Street, died in his home yesterday after an illness of a year.  HE had been a resident of the East Side 50 years.  He is survived by his wife, Edna: daughters, Mrs. Marie ULRICH, Lebanon, PA; Mrs. June KANSORKA, and Drusilla, Virginia and Gloria WARNER; son, David, Jr.; mother, Mrs. Ella WARNER, and seven grandchildren.  Services will be in the Eggleston Mortuary at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. WARNER, Edna - Mrs. Edna WARNER, 64, died of a heart ailment yesterday at home, 1419 Vinal Street.  Mrs. WARNER was a lifelong Toledo resident and a member of the college of the Toledo Chapter, Women of the Moose.  Surviving are her son, David, Toledo; daughters, Mrs. Marie ULRICH, Lebanon, PA; Drusilla and Virginia WARNER, Cleveland, and Mrs. June KANSORKA and Mrs. Gloria SPEARS, Toledo; brothers, William and George ROBERTS, Toledo; sister, Mrs. Mae VAUGHN, Toledo, and 12 grandchlidren.  Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Clegg Mortuary, East Broadway, with burial in Forest Cemetery. WARNER, Mrs. Ella - Services for Mrs. Ella WARNER, 87, (widow of the late Addison WARNER) formerly of 655 Segur Avenue, who died Wednesday after several months' illness, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bennett Funeral Homes by Lucas Rebekah Lodge and Ford Circle, Ladies of the GAR.  Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.  Mrs. WARNER, a life resident of Toledo, was a charter member and past president of Lucas Rebekah Lodge.  She was also a member of the Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, and the Red, White and Blue Club.  Surviving are nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  (The Toledo Blade, 22 July 1943 and 23 July 1943.)

WILEY, Florence Naomi - Florence Naomi HARDING was born at Wauseon, Ohio December 17, 1902 and departed this life Saturday January 10, 1923. She was united in marriage January 3, 1920 to Mont Vernon WILEY . To this union two children were born Virginia Rose age 2-1/2 years and Kenneth Mont age 9 months. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two children, father (Mel HARDING), mother, three sisters Hazel, Mabel and Leona, two brothers Ralph and Richard.

WILEY, Ona I. - Ona I. WILEY, 85 of Delta, Ohio died November 26, 1992 in Toledo Hospital. Mrs. WILEY was a retired beautician and is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Earl) WHITMIRE of Delta; sister Ethel STARKWEATHER of Toledo; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mont; son, Kenneth; and brothers, Russell and Glenn. Services were held November 29th in the Miller Funeral Home, Delta. Interment was in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Delta.
