Born July 1, 1945, in Toledo, he was the son of Guy and Audra (Mohler) Starkey, who preceded him in death. He was employed at Metropolitan Distributing, Toledo, for the past 20 years. He was also employed at the former Buckeye Brewery. He was in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968-1970. He organized the 9 is Fine Bowling Tournament through Metropolitan Distributing and was a founder of the Miller Bowling Tournament at Jug's. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Kruse) Starkey; two daughters, Tracy Wiley of Liberty Center and Jayme Starkey of Cincinnati; a stepson, Brad Schoenegge of Toledo; three step daughters, Wendy Wooley of Toledo, Deanna Binder of Ida, Mich., and Amy McCoy of Toledo; a brother, Bud Starkey of Graytown; two sisters, Louise Hughes of Toledo and Joan Ustas of Marion; and eight grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W. Sylvania, Toledo. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
