5. Samuel2 DOTY (Edward1) was born in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts circa 1643. Samuel died November 1715 in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey at 72 years of age. He was interred November 1715 in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
He married Jane HARMON November 15, 1678 in Piscataway, New Jersey. Jane was born circa 1661 in Saco, Maine. Jane was the daughter of James HARMON and Sarah CLARK. "The Ancestry of Lydia Harmon" by Walter Goodwin Davis states that Jane Harmon, daughter of James and Sarah Harmon, was bound to Lieutenant James Gibbins for a period of eight years on April 4, 1671. It further speculates that she came to Piscataway, NJ with one of the families fleeing Narragansett Indian attacks on the coastal settlements of Maine and New Hampshire at the outbreak of King Philip's War. This speculation is based, in part, upon the fact that Piscataway in New Jersey was settled by families from this area around the Piscataqua River from which Piscataway derived its name.
