EDWARD SHIPMAN OF SAYBROOK, CT: Second Generation

5. John2 SHIPMAN (Edward1) was born in Saybrook, Connecticut April 5, 1664.(13) John died 1718 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut at 54 years of age.

He married Martha HUMPHREY May 5, 1686 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.(14) Martha was born October 5, 1663 in Windsor, Connecticut.(15) Martha was the daughter of Michael HUMPHREY and Priscilla GRANT.

John served in the local militia and during the Indian Wars. He earned a bounty as Sergeant in Captain William's Company, Colonel William Whiting's Regiment in the expedition against Canada in 1709.

John SHIPMAN and Martha HUMPHREY had the following children:

child + 30 i. John Humphrey3 SHIPMAN was born January 1686/7.

child + 31 ii. Jonathan SHIPMAN was born January 1688/9.

child + 32 iii. David SHIPMAN was born August 9, 1692.

child + 33 iv. Abraham SHIPMAN was born December 31, 1695.

child + 34 v. Martha SHIPMAN was born April 1, 1699.

child 35 vi. Hannah SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut April 25, 1702.(16) Hannah died after 1740/1.
