Hi,
My name is Pat Raymond, and I wondered if anyone every found my William
Compton in their line. He was a resident of Providence, Rhode Island. He
married Elizabeth Franklin, niece of Benjamin Franklin. Their son William b.
1753, was married twice. His second wife was Huldah Beals. In 1812 he moved
from Otsego County, NY to Smithfield Township, Bradford County, PA. I believe
they had 2 sons and 2 daughters, but I only have names for one son, Hubbard,
and one daughter (my connection) Lucinda.
I would really appreciate any help. I have tried to find out the date
the first William Compton was born, but haven't had any luck yet. I would
also like to know who William Compton's parents were.
I found a William Compton who bought land at Ipswich, Mass. in 1662, but
can't connect him. I also have a John Compton who was listed as a freeman at
Roxbury, Mass. in 1634, but don't know if he was William's father. I have
some information on an Ira Compton born in New Jersey who married a Susan
Bishop, but their children (that I have names of) don't check with any of the
others that I have information on.
I also have a list of other Compton's who lived in Bradford County but not
much info on any of them.
I got most of this information from the Bradford County Twiggs at the
Bradford County Historical Society.

Hi! I don't have a lot of info to go on. My grandfather, Rolla Compton, Sr., was the son of Fred and Nellie Philo Compton. Fred was born August 1876 in Michigan and supposedly died in a coal mine in Ky, sometime before about 1918. The family moved to Fl around that time. From the census reports I know that Fred's parents were born in Michigan. Oh, and my grandmother told me that Fred's fathers name was Bill. I told you, it's not a lot to go on.
