August Wilhelm Fleming born in Germany came to America at the age of nine in 1871 with his family .
They lived in Detroit. Anna Sepull was born in Lithuania and came to America in 1879 and lived in Springfield,
Illinois.  August and Anna were married on March 25, 1883 and made their home in Metz Twp in
Presque Isle County, Michigan.  Together they had six children. 
They lost two children as infants: a son Paul Fleming born May 29, 1897 and died January 11, 1898.
A daughter Florence Bertha Martha Fleming born October 9, 1901 and died as a baby.
Surviving were: Friedrich Wilhelm Fleming, Herman Julius Fleming,
 Theresa (Tracy) Amelia Fleming and Ida Fleming

             Herman Julius Fleming and Emma Caroline Putzig married 16 June, 1910.

Wilbert H. Fleming, 87, of Rogers City passed away Wednesday (March 4, 2009) morning at Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City.

The son of Herman and Emma (Putzig) Fleming was bom January 1, 1922 in Hawks. On May 29, 1948 Wilbert and Nyda Paull were united in marriage and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year.

Wilbert worked for the Presque Isle County Road Commission for 35 years retiring in 1984. After retiring he and Nyda enjoyed caring for other children, Jerome and Sasha Gapczynski, and Brandon Haneckow were like grandchildren to them. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Golden Agers and the German American Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Len and Norman; and a sister Grace Schleben.

Wilbert is survived by his wife, Nyda; a daughter, Trudy (Gary) Orr of Rogers City; and a son, Kenneth (Monica) Fleming of Hawks; grandchildren, Scott (Missy) Orr of Po-sen, Cascy (Kirn) Orr of Rogers City, Justin (Angie) Orr of Des Moines, Iowa, Eric (K-iley) Fleming of Xenia, Ohio, Tonya (Nathan) Langlois of Rogers City and Erin Fleming of Hawks; five great-grandchildren,   Zachary, Brooklyn and Dylan Orr and Evan and Avery Langlois; two brothers, Marvin (Ruth) Fleming of Hawks and Arnold (Virgilene) Fleming of Rogers City;

<>a sister, Leona Rasche of Rogers City; sister-in-law, Irene Fleming of Hawks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at the Brietzke Funeral Home Friday where a parish prayer service was conducted. Visitation resumed Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church until the funeral service with the Rev. John Schreiber officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran School or Church and Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
