Once you begin to focus on family history you can get pumped up. My neighbor provided another phase descriptor when she said she was only interested in those family members who had "held her as a baby". Some folks can express interest in family if they follow the paternal line; that makes it real simple. Most folks however are busy enough navigating their current lives which produces an immediate glassy eyed glint when the subject arises.
