Born in Germany. d/o John Yazell and Caroline (Sweitzer) Yazell. w/o Adam Stadler. m/o George C. Stadler; Adam A. Stadler; Rena (Stadler) Smith; Jacob F. Stadler; Caroline (Stadler). Sophia and Adam married in 1846 while Adam was a Sergeant in King Leopold's army. The failed rebellion against the King was backed by Adam's comrades. Sophia and Adam fled to Switzerland, and they sailed to America.

Brown; Charles Brown; Cynthia (Brown) died at 6 months; William R. Brown; Thomas J. Brown; Nancy O. (Brown); Lucy J. (Brown); Robert E. Brown; Bernice (Brown); Susan (Brown); Augusta (Brown). Six of the children held teaching certificates. Lucy and husband Thomas cared for her parents in their later years.

Yerkes; Alice M. (Yerkes) Price; Ella May (Yerkes); Anna L.. (Yerkes); Susie (Yerkes); Hattie (Yerkes). (Wife #2) Mary Olive (Noble) Yerkes. m/o 4: Pearl died as infant; Hiram N. Yerkes; Lola G. (Yerkes); Winnie M. (Yerkes). Co-owner of Yerkes & Reese Meat Market, Fairmont, Illinois, in 1865, all supplies from Yerkes' 320 acre farm of 100 head of cattle, 75 swine. His name was on the corner stone of the county courthouse in Danville. Civil War veteran, Co H 63rd Indiana Infantry, fought in 16 battles, rose to Sergeant. He was never injured, but he was entirely covered by dirt plowed by a Rebel cannon ball.

Yerkes, Jacob S. 307, 308, 309. d.1886. s/o German Immigrant. h/o Ann S. (Shoemaker) Yerkes. f/o 8, only 4 reaching maturity, including Hiram, the 2nd born. Residents of Indiana, Jacob was a farmer and a wagon maker.

(Young) Huffman; Cindica (Young) Claypool; Noah Young; Samantha (Young) Huffman; Leonard Young; James I. Young; Matilda C. (Young) Tomlinson. Wed in 1829, Charles and Elizabeth went to Vermilion County with an eagle ($10 coin), a half dollar, and 25ยข, for a total of $10.75. Charles purchased 80 acres, and in 1857 purchased the home site. Eventually, he owned 25 farms in Vermilion County for agriculture and stock, having driven horses to Cincinnati, Chicago, Racine, and Milwaukee. Mother, Lucinda, lived with Charles after the death of husband James.
