If you look to the left you can see the rick of stove wood it's split in thin peices they cooked on the old kitchen wood stove ,if you wanted a snack or cup of coffee you had to take a arm load of wood to ths cook stove and build a fire,to heat it up . Also there is a small cup and a pan hanging on the wall ,the cup was for drinking water and the pan was used to fetch water to the kitchen, you cant see them in this photo but there is two of the o milk cans sitting on the porch full of water ,this was their water supply , just take the lid off and get a good cold drink of water, these cans were refilled with fresh water every couple of days, they got the water from another house on mudlick road that was close by it was a drilled well i think they drilled it their self i remember getting water there you had to lower the cylinder down into a 6 or 8 inch pipe with a chain on a pulley ,and it was deep and the water was really cold.the term, have to haul your water.was well known in those days. here is another photo from a different time front porch photo.
