Gwen Watkins born July 13, 1871 Crickhowell, Breconshire, Wales, married William "Bill" Armstrong, February 1891, died Aug. 7, 1942 at Mount Sterling, Van Buren County, Iowa. Bill was born 5 Aug 1864 at Oquawka, Henderson County, Illinois, son of James and Caroline Armstrong; died Oct. 24, 1938 at Mount Sterling, Van Buren County, Iowa IA. They were both buried at Harness Cemetery, Mount Sterling. Children of William "Bill" and Gwen (Watkins) Armstrong were: Nina, Charles Eugene, and Mildred.
1. Nina Armstrong, born February 25, 1892; died February 21, 1966 at Citrus Heights, California; buried at Canyon, Texas. She was married October 11, 1907, to Otto White. Children of Otto and Nina (Armstrong) White were: Helen, born 1908, and Marjorie, born 1910.
2. Charles Eugene "Gene" Armstrong, born April 8, 1893 at Home Prairie, Van Buren County, Iowa; died of polio August 30, 1934 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa; buried at Harness Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Van Buren County, Iowa. He was married January 17, 1914, to Clara Kerr. Gene graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1911. He became a teacher and later a principal at the Mount Sterling grade school. Clara also taught at Mount Sterling. About 1921 he was elected Van Buren County Auditor. He served eight years in that position, then became a state examiner. Gene was first a member of the Methodist Church in Mount Sterling and later joined the Congregational Church in Keosauqua. He was a Mason. Gene and Clara (Kerr) Armstrong had a son, Claire Eugene Armstrong, born December 2, 1918.
3. Mildred Armstrong, born January 29, 1907 at Mount Sterling, Van Buren County, Iowa; died November 22, 1971 at Mount Angel, Oregon; buried at City View Cemetery, Woodburn, Oregon. She was married (1) May 11, 1930, to William Seaman; and was married (2) 1933, to Ray Schmitt. She died of cancer. She had no children.
