John Sheets

John Sheets (Schutz/Shitz) was born ca 1725 in Germany, and died August 8, 1790 in Guilford Twp., Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Unknown. She was born ca 1730 in Germany, and died ca 1793 in Guilford Twp., Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

The names listed below as children are not proven. They are found on a deed in Franklin County (deed page 484-485 in Vol 3, 16 Feb 1796), leaving the assumption of relationship. The land was transferred to Jacob Sheets and George Cook .

Children of John Sheets and Elizabeth Unknown are:

i. Eva Sheets, born October 18, 1747; christined October 18, 1747, Old Warwick Lutheran Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

ii. Michael Sheets, born August 14, 1749, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; christened August 17, 1749, Old Warwick Lutheran Church, Lancaster County; died before1820 in probably Wood County, (West) Virginia and died before 1820 in Probably Wood County, (West) Virginia. He married Elizabeth Weigal. It is possible that Michael's first name was actually John. It is not uncommon for Germans to give each child the same first name and call them by their second name.
