Mary Ann Watkins Chadwick

Mary Ann Watkins, daughter of John Watkins and of Ann Evans, born October 30, 1866 at Llwynon Farm, Llangattock Parish, Breconshire, Wales; died May 22, 1937 at Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas; buried at Bonner Springs Cemetery, Bonner Springs, Kansas. She was married February 10, 1891, at Loring, Kansas to Arthur Abbott "Art" Chadwick, son of Wallace Chadwick and of Rebecca M. Williamson.

Art farmed and raised sheep. They raised a large garden and sold fresh vegetables, flowers, eggs, chicken, cream, butter and baked goods at a market in Kansas City to supplement their income. They were members of the First Christian Church. Mary died of cardio vascular hypertension. Children of Arthur Abbott "Art" and Mary Ann (Watkins) Chadwick were:  May Frances Chadwick, Eva Edith Chadwick, Daisy Grace Chadwick, Agnes Oma Chadwick, Thelma Marie Chadwick, and Charles Watkins Chadwick.

May Frances Chadwick, born December 14, 1891; died September 7, 1956 at Kansas City, Missouri; buried at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Henry County, Missouri. She was married December 20, 1914, at Loring, Kansas to William Franklin "Frank" Rogers, son of Hugh Grafton Rogers and of Emma "Lammie" Pollard. Frank worked as a nurseryman in Lawrence, Kansas where he met and married May. During World War I they moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Frank worked in a munitions plant. In 1919 Frank went to work for the MKT Railway system and moved to Clinton. He worked in Clinton for one year and was transferred to Vinita, Oklahoma. They returned to Clinton in 1922 and he worked for the Frisco railroad until the early 1930s when the roundhouse was discontinued. The next day Frank began working for Larabee Milling Co. He retired when the mill was closed in the early 1950s. May and Frank never had children. They reared James Arthur Danner, May's sister's son. He was legally adopted and changed his surname to Rogers July 13, 1946 before he was married. May and Frank were active in the First Christian Church in Clinton. May had only one eye as a result of a fall on some scissors. May was active in her community, serving as election judge, a member of the cemetery board and various social clubs.

Eva Edith Chadwick, born September 28, 1893 at Cantril, Van Buren County, Iowa; died September 11, 1978 at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa; buried at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Indianola, Warren County, Iowa. She was married June 11, 1918, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Clarence Boltz. Eva and Clarence both graduated from the University of Kansas. They lived in Council Bluffs, Des Moines and Indianola, Iowa. Clarence was a civil engineer and also owned and operated a Western Auto store. Eva worked in the store. They were members of the Indianola Methodist Church. After Eva's death, Clarence married Myrtle Spain in 1979. He moved to Lee's Summit, Missouri in 1984. Children of Clarence and Eva Edith (Chadwick) Boltz were Chadwick Clare, Arthur Evan, and Claire Allen Boltz. Clarence died September 25, 1989, Indianola, Warren Co. Iowa and was buried at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Daisy Grace Chadwick, born February 21, 1896 at Loring, Leavenworth County, Kansas; died August 9, 1977 at Indianola, Warren County, Iowa; buried at Bonner Springs Cemetery, Bonner Springs, Kansas. Daisy never married. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1915 and then from Lawrence Business College. She was a school teacher in the Linwood, Kansas school, later worked for the transportation service in Washington, D.C. For a short while she worked for the Michigan Central Railroad in Detroit. Daisey retired in 1958 from the transportation service in Chicago, Ill.

Agnes Oma Chadwick, born May 31, 1902 at Loring, Leavenworth County, Kansas; died July 24, 1929 at Independence, Jackson County, Missouri; buried at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. She was married March 2, 1920, at Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri to James "Henry" Danner, son of Simon Sylvester Danner and of Mary Lillie Vinyard. Henry worked in cement plants in Bonner and in Independence worked where farm implements were made and also in trucking. The family lived in Independence, Missouri. Agnes died July 24, 1929 in childbirth. She and the baby are buried together. Children of James "Henry" and Agnes Oma (Chadwick) Danner were: Mary Elizabeth Danner, Richard Eugene Danner, James Arthur Danner Rogers, Haver Charles Danner, and female Danner, born and died July 24, 1929. Henry remarried in 1930 and died January 20, 1975 in the Veterans Hospital at Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.

Thelma Marie Chadwick, born February 3, 1904 at Loring, Leavenworth County, Kansas; died June 7, 1953 at Independence, Jackson County, Missouri; buried at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. She was married April 26, 1925, at Leavenworth, Kansas to Olen Danner, son of Simon Sylvester Danner and of Mary Lillie Vinyard. Olen was a construction worker. He died January 11, 1994, and is buried at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. Children of Olen and Thelma Marie (Chadwick) Danner were Oma "Jean" and Ray Laverne Danner, born January 28, 1930; died February 1, 1961. Ray was born with the connection between the stomach and intestines blocked. Doctors performed an experimental surgery to open the passage. He was paralyzed on one side and confined to a wheelchair.

Charles Watkins Chadwick, born May 2, 1909 at Loring, Kansas; died August 22, 1928 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a member of the football team at the Bonner Springs High School where he graduated in 1927. He had completed one year as an engineering student at Kansas University when he was killed in a truck accident. He had summer job working for a construction company with his brother-in-law Clarence Boltz and the truck he was driving overturned while he was trying to make a sharp curve.
