Sarah Hurst Wyant
Sarah Hurst, duaghter of John and Winny Hurst, was born 1815-1820, and died July 1886 at Sand Fork, Gilmer County, West Virginia. She married Andrew Abraham Wyant June 8, 1837 in Lewis County, (West) Virginia (Source: Marriage Bonds and Marriage Records 1816-1865.). His name is given as both Abraham and Andrew in marriage records. Bondsmen were John Hurst and Abrahan Wyant. The Rev. Benjamin F. Sedwick performed the ceremony.
Children of Sarah Hurst and Andrew Wyant are:
i. Perry Wyant, born circa 1838; died December 17, 1861 in Lewis County of diptheria.
ii. Elizabeth Wyant, born circa 1840.
iii. John William Wyant, born December 13, 1841; died April 8, 1885 in Ellis, Gilmer County, West Virginia of blood poisoning. He married Susan Scott Carson April 16, 1868 in Gilmer County, (West) Virginia (Source: (1) Gilmer County WV Marriages 1845-1933 by Wes Cochran, Page 15., (2) The Bible of Susan Scott Wyant, Researched by Scott Wyant.); born circa 1852 in Harrison County, (West) Virginia; died December 21, 1922 in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia of pneumonia. John was wounded in the ankle at Hatcher's Run during the Civil War. He was discharged at Wheeling, West Virginia November 11, 1865. John was a farmer. The marriage took place at the home of Nancy Carson and was performed by the Rev. J.W. Miles. (Research on this family was done by Scott Wyant.)
