Thomas married Rachel Ricketts, daughter of Cheney Ricketts and Ann Nancy Cheney, on 17-Feb-1789 at Hopewell Twp., Huntingdon County, Indiana; by Rev. John Johnson. Thomas Covenhoven died in 1826 at Huntingdon County, Indiana.
     He was also known as Thomas Crownover. He bought land in central PA and Berkeley county VA. The Pennsylvania land was given to his eldest son John and John Sr. moved to Berkeley county (West) Virginia.

In 1788 Thomas Covenhoven was listed as a freeman at Hopewell Twp., Huntingdon County, Indiana.

Thomas date of death: the only source is in the Barree twp tax lists, where Thomas is listed from 1801 until 1826, where "dec'd" appears next to his name. In 1827 through 1830, "admin" appears next to his name. In 1831, the tax collector has written that the heirs of Thomas Covanhovan have agreed to divide his real property, and lists the heirs and acreage agreed upon. The tax collector adds that he approves of the division. The heirs are:

Daniel Covenhoven 45 acres, 73 perches
Thomas Covenhoven 13 acres, 56 perches
Widow Esther Covanhoven 20 acres 6 perches

The original record probably was written as Covenhoven and changed by Africa, as all records of Thomas found so far name him as Covenhoven. His sons John and Thomas retained Covenhoven on their tombstones.
