LOWELLVILLE – Private funeral services were held this morning, Sept. 24 at the Rossi-Lellio Funeral Home in Lowellville for Florence E. “Brocky” (Crownover) Deal, 80, who passed away early Monday morning, Sept. 21.

Florence was born Feb. 5, 1929 in Ford City, Pa., the daughter of Smith Emerson and Leona (Riggle) Crownover.

She was a homemaker and loved to sing.

Her husband, Lester Ira Deal, whom she married July 6, 1946, passed away March 28, 1993.

Florence will always be remembered by her nine children, Lester L. (Marilyn) Deal of West Hickory, Pa., Linda Schrader of Youngstown, Kathy (Pete) Ruozzo of Lowellville, Teddy Jean (John) Forgach of Charlotte, N.C., Lon (Donna) Deal of Tionesta, Pa., Debbie Deal of Sharon, Pa., Jeanette (Mike) Annibella of Tionesta, Darla (John) Johnson of Austintown and Glenn (Carla) Deal of Clarion, Pa; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Lois Thiry of Kittaning, Pa., Lucy Retzer of Ford City, Pa., Patty Zimmerman of Indiana, Pa., Smith Emerson Crownover of Ford City, and Gayle McCarthy of Ford City.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Dawn Deal; beloved nephew, Eddie Scott; son-in-law, Tom Schrader; and sisters, Ida Bortmas, Eleanor Spell and Katy Moore.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses, nurses aides and staff at Greenbrier, who took care of our beloved mother.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Rossi-Lellio Funeral Home, 151 Second St. in Lowellville.

T.C. (Pat) Crownover, 63, Avonmore, RD 1, died Sunday May 9, 1971 at 4:30 p.m. at his home near Shady Plain. A son of George and Catherine Heilman Crownover, he was born April 18, 1908, in Bethel Twp., Armstrong County.

He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Brick Church. He was a self-employed farmer and a committeeman of Agway Inc. of Indiana and ASC Office in Kittanning. Mr. Crownover was a director of the Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of South Bend Township.

Surviving are three sons: Stanley Dean Crownover, Theodore Eugene Crownover and Thomas Homer Crownover, all of Avonmore RD 1; a daughter, Gaynal Arlene Crownover Rupert, Shelocta RD 1; 13 grandchildren; two brothers: Doran F. Crownover, Avonmore RD 1; Marlin R. Crownover, Spring Church Star Route; a sister, Mrs. Earl (Lottie) Riggle, Hyde Park.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Riggle Crownover, on March 3, 1970, and a daughter, Theidora in 1930.

Friends are being received at the Clark Funeral Home, Elderton, today from 7-9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m with the Rev. Thomas Bukeholder officiating. Interment wil be in the Brick Church.

Helen L. Crownover, 60, , of Avonmore RD 1, died Tuesday, March 4, 1970, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning. Born Sept. 7, 1909 in Burrell Twp., she was a daughter of Thomas F. and Edith Schaffer Riggle.

Mrs. Crownover was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church at Brick Church.

Surviving are her husband, T.C. Crownover; a daughter, Mrs. Orald (Gaynal) Rupert, Shelocta RD 1; three sons: Stanley Dean Croownover, Theodore E. Crownover and Thomas H. Crownover, all of Avonmore RD 1; a brother, Murray Riggle, Ford City RD 2; Mrs. Everett (Myrtle) Miller, Greensburg, and 14 grandchildren.

A daughter, Theidora, preceded her in death in 1930.

Friends will be received at the Wendell A Welch Funeral Home in Ford City o Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Burkeholder oficiating. Interment will be made in the Brick Church Cemetery.

Marlin Raymond Crownover, 72 of Shelocta RD1, died Thursday, April 14, 1983, at his home near South Bend. A son of George and Catherine Heilman Crownover, he was born Aug. 25, 1910, in Armstrong County.

Mr. Crownover was a member of the Plum Creek Church of the Brethern, and of the United Mine Workers Local 412. He was retired from R&P Coal Company and had been a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Florence Balanche Keeler Crownover of Shelocta RD 1; a son, Donald L. Crownover of Kittanning RD 1; two daughters: Mrs. Charles (Louise) Jewart of Creekside RD 1, and Mrs. Ed (Charlotte) Ruffner of Shelocta RD 1; a sister, Lottie Riggle of Ford City RD 1; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infants; a son, Wendell in March, 1977; one grandchild; six brothers: Harry Crownover, Ross Crownover, Hermon Crownover, Smith Crownover, Vernon Crownover and Theodore C. Crownover.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Clark Funeral Home, Elderton, where services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Harold Kennepp will officiate. Interment will be in the Elderton Cemetery.

Wayne Richard Crownover, 87, of Campbell Run Road, Ford City, died Friday, June 2, 2006 at Kittanning Care Center, Kittanning Township.He was born Oct. 1, 1918 in Ford City to Charles and Edna (Richards) Crownover.Mr. Crownover was retired from Eljer Plumbingware.He was a U.S. Army veteran having served under Gen. George S. Patton in the 3rd Army Engineer Battalion in Europe during World War II.He was a member and officer of the former Crooked Creek Sportsmen's Club and a member of the Marshall Grange.He loved to talk on the CB radio and was known as "The Repairman" because he could fix anything. He also like to hunt and fish, garden, and work in his garage.Survivors include his wife Edith (Schreckengost) Crownover, whom he married Sept. 12, 1940; one son Wayne Jr. and wife Sharon of Ford City; two daughters, Phyllis Hohn and husband Everett of Ford City, and Anita Stewart and husband Doug of Worthington; 11 granchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester and Charles Crownover of Ford City; three sisters, Betty Young of Ford City, Ocie Cribbs of Leechburg, and Mildred Sarver of Freeport; and nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Albert Crownover; and one brother, Raymond Crownover.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sandy Rubinoff officiating. Burial will be in the Shotts Cemetery.

      Martha Murray was born on 15-Feb-1834. Martha married Ferguson Crownover, son of Hezekiah Covenhoven and Elizabeth Newman. Martha Murray died on 10-Jan-1902 at age 67. Martha was buried at Coy Cemetery, Miller Twp., Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
     

Mrs. Martha Crownover, widow of the late Ferguson Crownover, died at the home of her son, William D. Crownover, No. 408 Moore Street, Jan. 10 1902. She was about 68 years of age. Death was due to a complication of diseases incident to advanced years, and came as a blessed relief from a long siege of illness and suffering, the later four months of which she spent in bed. Mrs. Crownover, whose maiden name was Miss Martha Murray, was born at McAlvey's Fort, resided in Huntingdon for 14 years, but the greater part of her life was spent in Miller Township.

These eight children survive: Mrs. Laura Thompson or Juniata Township, Thomas G. Crownover of Saulsburg (he married a Crownover girl); Mrs. Elizabeth Steffy, of Elkins W. Va; Filmore Crownover, of Altoona; Mrs. Stewart Barnet, William D. Crownover. Robert J. Crownover, and Miss Linnie R. Crownover of Huntingdon, Pa. A brother, Davidson Murray, who resides in Missouri, also survives.

When quite young, Mrs. Crownover united with the Methodist church, and throughout her life that was an inspiration to her children and a source of much joy and comfort to them in her declining years. Funeral services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. G. M. Klepfer. She was buried in Coy's Cemetery near Cornpropsts Mills.
