Sarah E. Wardell, my grandmother, married James H. Donnell of Brooklyn, b.
1870... I believe that James Wardell (son of Samuel) and the rest of his
family are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. My mother is buried in
Holy Cross Cemetery.

Sarah E. Wardell, my grandmother, married James H. Donnell of Brooklyn, b.
1870... I believe that James Wardell (son of Samuel) and the rest of his
family are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. My mother is buried in

Samuel Flemming Allen Goble died on 29-Jan-1924 at Point Pleasant, Ocean County, New Jersey, at age 80.
      Taken from letter from great grandmother, Margaretta Goble written 12/7/51:"My
father, whose full name was Samuel Fleming Allen Gobel, he was named after
his Mother's father. The bronze plaque on the Monmouth Co. side of the
Upper Bridge over the Manasquan River, on the West side of the higway is either
his Grandfater or Great Grandfather on his Mother's side...My father did not
like his full name, so he dropped the Samuel Fleming off."

U.S. Naval Pension application # 29164:"Ocean County, NJ, On this 10th day of
Feb 1913 personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, Allen Goble, 70
yers of age and a resident of West Point Pleasant, County of Ocean, NJ; he is
the identical person who was enrolled at New York City under the name of Allen
Goble on the 9th of September 1864 as a Coal heaver in the Navy in the service
of the United States in the Civil war, and was honorably discharged at
Philadelphia, Pa, on the 25th day of September 1865. Was put on the receiving
ship North Carolina at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, sent to West gulf squadron, put
on board receiving ship Fear Not. then to gun boat Fort Gaines. Personal
description: height: 5 ft 6 3/4 inches; complexion, light; color of eyes,
light; color of hiar, light, that his occupation was laborer; that he was born
February 7th, 1843, at near Manasquan, Monmouth County, NJ. Several places of
residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Point Pleasant and
West Point Pleasant, Ocean County, NJ. He is a pensioner under certificate No.
29164. He makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the
pension roll under the provisions of the act of May 11, 1912. His post-offic
address is West Point Pleasant, NJ
