Lane, son of Peter Lane and Elizabeth Smock, on 18-Aug-1809 at Somerset County, New Jersey. Anna Honnell died on 12-Oct-1872 at New Germantown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, at age 79.

      Frederick Honnell Lane was born on 22-Dec-1813. He was the son of Matthew P. Lane and Anna Honnell. Frederick married Mary Ann Craig, daughter of William Craig and Elizabeth Lane, on 3-Dec-1840. Frederick Honnell Lane died on 7-Oct-1873 at age 59.

      Mary Ann Craig was born on 12-Sep-1822. She was the daughter of William Craig and Elizabeth Lane. Mary married Frederick Honnell Lane, son of Matthew P. Lane and Anna Honnell, on 3-Dec-1840. Mary Ann Craig died on 30-Apr-1897 at Burnt Mills, Somerset County, New Jersey, at age 74.

      Mathew P. Lane was born on 28-Jun-1848. He was the son of Frederick Honnell Lane and Mary Ann Craig. Mathew married Mary Abigail Crater, daughter of Philip Morris Crater and Gertrude Sutphen Lane, on 8-Jan-1873 at Somerset, Somerset County, New Jersey. Mathew P. Lane died on 25-May-1907 at Somerville, Somerset County, New Jersey, at age 58.

     Mary Abigail Crater was the daughter of Philip Morris Crater and Gertrude Sutphen Lane. Mary married Mathew P. Lane, son of Frederick Honnell Lane and Mary Ann Craig, on 8-Jan-1873 at Somerset, Somerset County, New Jersey.

      Robert Craig was born on 10-Mar-1815. He was the son of William Craig and Elizabeth Lane. Robert married Elizabeth Field, daughter of Richard H. Field and Hannah Lane. Robert Craig died on 22-Dec-1892 at New Germantown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, at age 77.

     Hannah Craig was the daughter of William Craig and Elizabeth Lane.

     Thomas married Margaret Lane, daughter of Matthias Lane Jr. and Gertrude Sutphen, before 1832 at Bedminster, Somerset County, New Jersey.

     James married Ann Lane, daughter of Peter Lane and Elizabeth Smock, on 9-Dec-1815 at Bernardsville, Somerset County, New Jersey.

     Peter Blair was the son of James Blair and Ann Lane.

     John Blair was the son of Peter Blair and Elizabeth Lane.

     Ellen Blair was the daughter of Peter Blair and Elizabeth Lane.

     Elizabeth Blair was the daughter of Peter Blair and Elizabeth Lane.

      Catherine Blair was born on 17-Jan-1821 at New Jersey. She was the daughter of Peter Blair and Elizabeth Lane. Catherine married James F. Ballentine, son of James Ballentine and Abigail Miller, on 17-Dec-1840 at New Jersey. Catherine Blair died on 1-Nov-1901 at New Jersey at age 80.

      Antje Lane was born circa 1745 at Marlborough, Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen. Antje Lane was baptized on 2-Jun-1745 at Marlborough, Monmouth County, New Jersey. She died circa Jan-1805 at Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey; Antje died unmarried. Her will of 6 Dec 1803 and probated 24 Jan 1805 gave her name as 'Ann Lane', mentions Jane, Sarah, Jacob and Ann as children of her brother, John, and her sisters, Catherine Morris and Eleanor Lee.

      Catherine Lane was born circa 1747. She was the daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen. Catherine married (Unknown) Morris before 1803. Catherine Lane died after 1803.

     Mary Lane was the daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen. Mary married Guisbert Lane.
      Mary supposedly married her cousin Guisbert Lane, & moved with him to Albany, NY.

     Eleanor Lane was the daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen. Eleanor married Samuel Lee before 1803. Eleanor Lane died after 1803.
     She was also known as Nelly Lane.

     John Lane was the son of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen. John married Mary (Unknown) before 1777. John Lane died in 1791 at Bedminster, Somerset County, New Jersey; John's will of 13 Jul 1791 and probated 18 Sep 1791 directs his real estate to be sold, and his four young children to be educated, but does not name them except his son Jacob. His executors were his uncle Matthias Lane Sr., the latters son Matthias Lane Jr. and Simon Vleet; witnessed by Robert Blair and Aaron Lane (John's brother).
      According to the will of his sister Ann, John had (living in 1781) these children: Jane, Sarah, Jacob, and Ann.

     (Unknown) married Catherine Lane, daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen, before 1803.

     Guisbert married Mary Lane, daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen.

     Samuel married Eleanor Lane, daughter of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen, before 1803.

     Mary married John Lane, son of Garret Lane and Mayke Sutphen, before 1777. Mary (Unknown) died after 1791.

      Aaron Van Dorn Lane was born on 6-Jun-1792 at Somerset County, New Jersey. He was the son of Aaron Lane and Sarah Van Dorn. Aaron married Phoebe (Unknown). Aaron Van Dorn Lane died on 12-May-1855 at age 62. Aaron was buried after 12-May-1855 at New Burlington Cemetery, Hamilton County, Ohio.
      Aaron and John, his brother, were given 38 acres of land in Hamilton Co, OHIO by their grandfather Aaron Van Doren.

A story that Aaron and John were playing in the woods one day about 1803 when Indians came along. Aaron was up a tree and was captured by the Indians and taken away to the area around Lake Michigan. Several years later a traveler stopped by the parents cabin and told them of a Caucasian boy living with the Indians. The father, Aaron Lane, went up north and bartered for the boy, who didn't want to leave with his father but eventually did. The boy retained many of his Indian habits and was called "Indian Pete." He was said to have married and lived back in the woods. Another source says that Aaron was never found. This story is from Frank P. Lane, who heard it from his grandfather, Abraham Crum Lane in 1894. Have letter from Frank.

According to manuscript notes, Aaron was tried and expelled from his church for his anti-slavery stand, after which most other Lanes also withdrew. (possible this refers to this Aaron's father, but dates given are for this Aaron) The Lanes worked under Levi Coffin, a Quaker from Cincinnati, in helping with the underground railroad. Their house, at Hamilton and Mill, was a stop on the RR.
One source says Jan. 6 as birth date, but gravestone and most sources give June 6.

      John Lane was born on 27-Jan-1793 at Somerset County, New Jersey. He was the son of Aaron Lane and Sarah Van Dorn. John married Rosanah Crum, daughter of Abraham Crum and Mary Whitinger, on 14-Sep-1815 at Wayne County, Indiana. John married Rosanah Crum, daughter of Abraham Crum and Mary Whitinger, on 16-Sep-1815 at Wayne County, Indiana. John Lane died on 4-Jun-1880 at Mount Healthy, Hamilton County, Ohio, at age 87. John was buried after 4-Jun-1880 at New Burlington Cemetery, Hamilton County, Ohio.
      In 1826 John and his brother Aaron were given 38 acres in Hamilton County, OH, by their grandfather Aaron Van Doren.

Family tradition says that one day John was sitting on his porch when he saw a girl on horseback ride by going to fetch a doctor for her mother. John went along to help, and the girl, Rosanah Crum, became his wife... They lived on a farm on Mill Creek, one mine north of Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

From Clark Lane's "Reminiscential" it appears that John was a smith or at least did some smithing and they had a one room log house on a farm. It was located at the junction of Hamilton Avenue and Mill Road, just south of the New Burlington Cemetery. The property was still in the family hands in 1907. John and his sons made a reaping machine, wagons, and other machinery. John Lane stone blacksmith shop, supposed to have been built in 1813, still stands a mile north of Mt. Healthy.

Hamilton Avenue might have been built along the route or "trace" cut by General St. Clair to the north during his Indian campaigns. It was the main road between Cincinnati and Hamilton and Mt. Healthy was located about 1/2 between Fort Hamilton and Fort Washington (Cincinnati).

The New Burlington Cemetery, where many Lanes are buried, is located on Mill Road, just north of the junction with Hamilton Ave., probably on or next to the original Lane farm.

The Lane home was said to be a stop on the Underground Railroad, and the Lanes worked with Levi Coffin, a Quaker, who organzied the RR through Cincinnati.

      Joseph Grover was born in 1656 at Gravesend, Kings County, New York. Joseph married Hannah Lawrence circa 1685 at Monmouth County, New Jersey. Joseph Grover died on 25-Mar-1689.
