John married Harriet Adeline Clark, daughter of James Clark and Harriet Dunlap, on 12-Mar-1868 at Scotland County, Missouri. John Lewis Myers died on 28-Apr-1924 at Oklahoma at age 79. John was buried at Deep Red Cemetery, Tillman County, Oklahoma.
     He resided at at Jefferson, Scotland County, Missouri, in 1880. John had a lumber yard in Abilene, Texas. In 1900, the family moved from Abilene to Siboney, Oklahoma Territory, and built a hotel there. They lived in the hotel and Hattie was the hotel cook. John was a farmer and had five farms and a sheep ranch, and was also a mule buyer. He had a gristmill in Manitou and bought all the corn that was grown within wagon distance of there. John became a preacher and Sunday School teacher at the Siboney schoolhouse.

Robert J. Paterson and his four children were living with John Myers in 1920 according to the 1920 census record for Tilman Co., Ok.

Note: In the 1880 census, John was listed as being in Scotland Co., MO. The 1900 census shows that John was then living in Bosque Co., TX. and by the 1910 census was living in Kiowa Co., Ok.

      Walwin Clark Myers was born on 26-Aug-1870 at Memphis, Scotland County, Missouri. He was the son of John Lewis Myers and Harriet Adeline Clark. Walwin married Etha Overstreet on 23-Nov-1891 at Killeen, Bell County, Texas. Walwin Clark Myers died on 16-Mar-1939 at Oakland, Alameda County, California, at age 68. Walwin was buried on 18-Mar-1939 at Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, Alameda County, California.
      Walwin married Etha Overstreet in 1891 in Killeen, Texas. Walwin moved around a lot. He went from Killeen, to Irdell Texas, to Pavla in the Indian Territory then to Walnut Springs, Texas and on to Sanderson, Texas then, Del Rio, Texas prior to moving to Sibony, Oklahoma around 1904. In Sibony they lived in a half dugout. On his way to Sibony, Walwin was driving a team of gray horses and was picked up for questioning by a Mr. Bird, who lived on Deep Red and was president of the Anti-Horse Thief Association. They had been looking for a man who had stolen some horses. After that Walwin was given the nickname of "Horse Thief Myers". Walwin was elected court clerk of the New Swanson Company and moved to Snyder where he lived for seven years. He then moved to Otter Creek where he stayed for two years and then moved on to one of his dad's farms two miles north of Manitou OK. When he moved to Manitou, he had a barbershop with Ferrel and Claude Hill. At that time, each regular customer had his own shaving mug in a cubbyhole in the wall. Each customer had his name under his mug. In addition to the barbershop, he had a newspaper called the "Devil" or "Manitou News" depending on who you talk to. His daughters, Ella and Maxine would set the type by hand. It was only two sheets and the cost of a subscription was two dollars a year. Around 1925, Walwin went to Long Beach, California to take care of his brother, Fred Myers. While in Long Beach, he ran a barbershop on Anaheim St. until the 1930's.

Note: The 1910 census indicates the Walwin was living in Kiowa Co., OK. and by the 1920 census was living in Tilman Co., OK.

      At the age of 90 Mary was still swimming in the ocean and teaching citizenship classes to foreign born residents. On the day the referenced article was written, she had been swimming for 15,600 days in a row or almost 43 years. She stated "I've been in the water when there was snow on the roofs and ice in the puddles. I've been swimming when it was so foggy I kept bumping into the Second Street bridge..." She was a member of the Polar Bear Club and held a Red Cross 50 mile swimming certificate she received in 1962. She learned to swim in irrigation ditches in Mexico. When she moved to Long Beach from Texas in 1904 she settled next to the ocean and has been in it daily ever since except for a few short vacations. She Said "My Australian crawl is still pretty good but I don't surf much any more."
