Hill and Charlotte Elizabeth Stacey, on 5-Mar-1889 at Eden, Ingham County, Michigan. George Thomas Conover died in 1929 at Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan.

      Charlotte E. A. Hill was born in Sep-1860 at Eden, Ingham County, Michigan. She was the daughter of Eseck K. Hill and Charlotte Elizabeth Stacey. Charlotte married George Thomas Conover, son of Furnand Conover and Catherine Parish, on 5-Mar-1889 at Eden, Ingham County, Michigan. Charlotte E. A. Hill died in 1936 at Benton Harbor, Berrien County, Michigan.
     She was also known as Lottie Hill.

      Harold James Conover was born on 27-Dec-1893 at Ellendale, Dickey County, North Dakota. He was the son of George Thomas Conover and Charlotte E. A. Hill. Harold married Ethel Knickerbocker, daughter of George Knickerbocker and Francis Wyer, in 1915 at Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan. Harold James Conover died on 19-May-1967 at Pompano Beach, Broward County, Florida, at age 73.

      Samuel S. Conover was born on 10-Nov-1818 at Victor, Ontario County, New York. He was the son of Asher Conover and Diadema Frederick. Samuel married Lydia Montgomery, daughter of Hugh Montgomery and Rachel Rose. Samuel S. Conover died on 2-Aug-1898 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, at age 79.
      CONOVER, S. S.



S. S. CONOVER is a native of the state of New York. In 1837, at the age of nineteen years, he went to Milwaukee, and was a resident of that city for thirty years. He was sheriff of Milwaukee County, during the years 1856 and 1857. In 1867 he came to Manistee and engaged in the manufacture of of harness, saddles, etc. He manufactured the first harness and saddles made here. He continued in that business until the fire of 1871, when he was burned out, and did not afterwards resume business. Mr. CONOVER was elected justice of the peace in 1868, and with the exception of two years has held the office ever since. Since 1872 he has been engaged chiefly in real estate and insurance business. During his residence in Milwaukee, Mr. CONOVER figured prominently in an event that is memorable in Wisconsin history. In 1854 he was under-sheriff of Milwaukee, and in charge of the jail at the time the fugitive slave GLOVER was lodged there, and shortly afterwards taken by a crowd who attacked the jail, and got possession of the slave.

      Louisa Lucinda Montgomery Conover was born on 3-Aug-1846 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Samuel S. Conover and Lydia Montgomery. Louisa married Dr. John Winfield Scott, son of John Scott and Elmina Eddy, on 30-Oct-1868 at Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan.

      Dr. John Winfield Scott was born on 11-Feb-1840 at Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York. He was the son of John Scott and Elmina Eddy. John married Louisa Lucinda Montgomery Conover, daughter of Samuel S. Conover and Lydia Montgomery, on 30-Oct-1868 at Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan.
