     He was also known as Joost Covenhoven.
Joseph's left a will on 24-Dec-1800 at Franklin Twp., Somerset County, New Jersey.

In his will, dated Dec 24, 1800, Joseph Covenhoven of Franklin Twp, Somerset County, mentione his sons John (eldest), Joseph, Garret, Jeremia (youngest); and his daughters Elizabeth, Elsie, Mary, and Ellen. The executor was his son John, and the witnesses were Robert Boggs, Sarah Thompson, and Ann Dunham.

He wrote a codicil on 14-Oct-1811; he revoked some clauses of the preceeding will due to the fact that his son Garret was then dead. The witnesses were William P. Deare, Benjamin Runyon, and Robert Boggs.
