Marguerite C. Jimmie Travis, 92, formerly of Waldon III, Wind Gap, and John Daumer Senior House, Bath, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the Schuylkill Medical Center, Pottsville.

Jimmie was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Richards) Hock.

Born in Fountain Hill on January 13, 1917, she was the widow of four good men, George H. Smith, who died in 1953, Gerald E. Griffin, who died in 1965, Robert C. Conover Sr., who died in 1983, and Ellwood Woody Travis, who died in 1992.

Jimmie worked for Surefit in the 1930s, and late in the R . K. Laros Clothing Store from 1953 into the 1960s. In the early 1960s she became a partner in Ten West Market Street, Bethlehem, an up-scale dress shop. Jimmie worked there into her 70s. It was her love along with her family.

Survivors: son, H. James Smith and his wife, Christine of Bushkill Township; daughter, Linda Czap and her husband, Albert of Schuylkill Haven; step-sons, Donald Conover and his wife, Gloria of Bethlehem and Barry Conover and his wife, Jackie in Florida; grandchildren, Miki Stenger and her husband, Brian in Wyoming, Shawn Smith and his wife, Angela in New Jersey, Shane Smith and his companion, Tara of Hellertown, Heather Houser and her husband, Todd of Mertztown, Christopher Drust and his wife, Jolene, Jason Drust and his wife Melissa of Bethlehem; 10 great-grandchildren.

A pretty wedding occurred at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Eads, living east of the city, Thursday afternoon when their only daughter Miss Katherine, was united in marriageto Mr. Karl Katzenberger, of Greenville. Miss Eads is a graduate of the
Bellefotnaine High School and has been a successful primary teacher in the public schools of Greenville for the past two years, where the groom is connected with the Greenville Electric Light and Power Co. Mr. Katzenberger is a rising young electrical engineer, graduating from the Bliss Electrical College of Washington D.C. in 1909 with the highest honors of fhis class, and is destined to make good in his chosen profession. The uniting of these two hearts was witnessed with much pleasure by the number of friends who wer privileged to be present. The ring ceremony was performed in "God's out-of-doors," under a natural canopy of green, a favorite nook of the bride, who is a true lover of nature. Just as the sun was sinking in the west and seemed to smile in approval on the event, Rev. H. J. Bigley, a friend of the family, took his place beneath the bower, followed by the happy couple and two small attendants, Helen Gebby and Ethlyn Eads, cousins of Miss Eads. The bride was attiered in a white Puritan gown and carried white roses, her only jewelry being the ring used in the marriage ceremony which united her grandparents, Mr. F. B. Fleck and Miss Katharine Baird, more than 60 years ago. After the wedding repast the couple left for the lakes where they will spend their honeymoon, after which they will make their home in Greenville. The out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Katzenberger and two daughters, parents and sisters of the groom; Mr.and Mrs. Arthur Devore and Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Pierson, all of Greenville, and Mrs. John O. Fleck of Marysville.

He had been in failinghealth for approximately six months. As a councilman, Katzenberger wasknown for his strong demeanor and financial sense. He had been describedas outspoken, knowledgable, concerned, respected and confident by hispolitical allies and enemies alike when he retired at the end of his 1985term. The Greenville native entered council in 1950 as an at-largecandidate. During the next 10 years, he served on nearly every councilcommittee. He also sat as council president for a term and was laterdefeated in his 1964 campaign bid for mayor. In addition to the council,Katzenberger was a member of the Wayne Hospital and Community ActionCommittee boards. He was also a part of the advisory committeeresponsible for the formation of the Greenville Transit Authority. He wasa member of the VFW Post 7262 and is a past member of the GreenvilleJaycees and Greenville Kiwanis. He was also a member of Gamma SigmaDelta, an agricultural fraternity at Ohio State University. He was a 1938graduate of Ohio State and had a Masters degree from Ohio State inchemistry. KATZENBERGER -- Charles E. Katzenberger died at home on Thursday, December 22, 2005. Born May 11, 1919 in Lewisburg, OH, he was the youngest son of Karl A. and Kathryn Katzenberger. He grew up in Greenville, OH and joined the U.S. Army in April, 1942. After serving in the European Theatre in WWII as a First Lieutenant in the Sixth Ordnance MM Co. he remained in the Army Reserves, retiring in 1975 as a Lt. Col. In 1946 he moved Albuquerque and began working at Sandia Laboratories, retiring in 1981. Married for 59 years to Lucille Erickson, he is survived by their children, C. Edward Katzenberger, Jr. and wife, Micky Carino, Kathryn K. Morales and husband, Henry; daughter, Karen K. Katzenberger; and son, Karl Joseph Katzenberger; and by grandchildren, Karina, Brianna, Charles, Katie and Amari Morales, Kellam Carino, and Isaac Katzenberger. Active in the community, he was a member of the Genealogy Club of Albuquerque, a charter member of the Albuquerque Coin Club and the Morrow Users Computer Club. He was a lifelong Republican and was a poll worker during elections. Active in the Presbyterian Church, he was a member of the First Church for over 50 years where he was ordained as an elder and as a deacon. He served on the Mission Committee, worked in the archives and was active in the Sandia Conference Grounds and the Presbytery of Santa Fe. He enjoyed traveling, and after retirement made trips to Europe, pursuing his family history and taking part in commemorations of WWII. Dies Monday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mr. David Doty who passed away Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock following an extended illness will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. Walter Hittle in West Covington. H. C. Marlin will officiate. The deceased had been ill for the past 14 works suffering from complications. During that time he submitted to an operation at the Covington hospital which failed to bring relief. Mr. Doty, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Doty was born at Greenville Falls, June 25, 1894 and has been a lifelong resident of this community. An efficient automobile mechanic, Mr. Doty was employed at the Gillis Auto Parts at Eldean. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Surviving besides the widow, Tillie Conover Doty, are two sisters, Mrs. Walter Hittle of Covington and Mrs. Emerson Loxley of Union, two nephews and two nieces. Interment will be made in Sugar Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mrs. Conley, funeral director of Piqua.
