Dies of Old Age at His Home at Fordsville.
Justin McCarty, one of the oldest and most widely known citizens of Ohio county, died of senility at his home at Fordsville on Wednesday morning. He was in his eighty-fifth year and for some years past had been feeble. He was, however, confined to his bed for only a short time previous to his death.
Mr. McCarty was born in Washington county, but came to Ohio county when a child. During the greater part of his life he was engaged in farming in Ohio county, but gave up all active business pursuits several years ago. He was married sixty-five years ago to Miss Rachael Webb Haynes, who died a year ago. Nine children survive them. They are Dr. J. W. McCarty and Mrs. W. A. Flemister, of Fordsville; C. H. McCarty, of Louisville; Mrs. E. W. E. Ellington, of Owensboro; Dr. John McCarty, Scott McCarty, Samuel C. McCarty and Mrs. John Reader, of Texas, and Mrs. W. A. Weatherford, of Oklahoma. Dr. A. B. McCarty, of Owensboro, is a grandson, and the deceased has a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives in Owensboro.
The funeral will be held this afternoon from the Fordsville Baptist church, of which the deceased was a member.

W. W. McCARTY was born in Marion County, Ky., February 2, 1826. His father Milburn McCarty, was born in Washington County, Ky., June 5, 1797, and moved to Daviess County in 1845, where he died in 1863, leaving a wife and seven children. He had been a member of the Baptist church since twenty-one years of age. He was married in 1819 to Catherine Kinnett, a native of Washington County, Ky., born March 13, 1797, who is still living, is hale and hearty, and can read without the use of glasses. W. W. McCarty was married June 25, 1849, to Elizabeth E. Beannon, a native of Ohio County, born Feb. 25, 1831. Nine children have been born to them, six of whom are living - James M., Catherine, Annie L., William M., S. S and Virgil E. Mr. McCarty owns 130 acres of fine land in Fordsville Precinct, Ohio County. He is now farming the land of William E. McFarland, six miles west of Owensboro. He has been a member of the Baptist church since seventeen years of age and his wife has been a member f thirty years. He has been a Mason thirty two years and a Royal Arch Mason twelve years, belongs to Jerusalem Lodge, No. 9, Henderson, Ky. Mr. McCarty is one of Daviess County's oldest and best citizens. Biographical Sketches
'MILBURNE E. McCARTHY, M.D., was born in Lebanon, Ky., June 5, 1828. He was educated in the public schools and at St. Mary's College in Nelson County, Ky. He attended a course of lectures at the Louisville Medical College, then University of Kentucky, in 1852, and entered the American Medical College of Cincinnati, Ohio from which he graduated in 1855. The following year he attended hospital lectures at Commercial Hospital, Cincinnati. He also graduated from Fallon Medical College, St. Louis, and commenced practice at Wilberton, Fayette Co., Ill., remaining there and in that vicinity for eighteen years. Subsequently lived in Minoka, Woodford Co., Ill., nine years and from thence moved to Peru, Neb., whence he came to Kansas in April 1880, and has since resided in Emporia and Newton, being at the present time largely interested in farming. Dr. McCarthy was married in Wilberton, Ill., May 17, 1858, to Mary A. Wilborn, daughter of Judge Willis Wilborn, and a native of Crittendin County, Ky. They have three children - John S. and the twins, Milburn P. and Mary D. Dr. McCarthy is a member of the Baptist Church and the A. F & A. M.
