He ended military service on July 25, 1865 Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee; mustered out Company E., 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment, Ohio. Samuel Minor Ferguson, a son of William and Margeret Somerville Ferguson, was born in Jefferson County, PA May 17, 1841, and died at his home near Rimersburg, February 12, 1929, after an illness of several weeks duration. The death of Mr. Ferguson marks the passing of another veteran of the Civil War. In July 1863 he enlisted at Portsmouth, Ohio, in Co E., 1st Ohio Volunteers, heavy artillery, and was discharged at Knoxville, Tenn, August 1865. He was united in marriage with Margaret Mortimer at New Athens, July 24, 1866, who preceded him in death February 2, 1903. October 13, 1904, he was married to Mrs Adda Snow, near Red Bank, PA, who survives him. One brother Azel Ferguson, of Eau Claire and a son E. C. Ferguson, of Madison Twp., two daughters Mrs. Philip Priester, of Madison Twp, and Mrs Hames Hull of Pittsburgh, survive. Mr. Ferguson leaves 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Many years ago, when comparatively a young man. Mr. Ferguson became a member of the Associate Presbyterian church, to which he adhered throughout his life. He was a man of intelligence, decided in his opinions and firm in his convictions. He was the possessor of a remarkable memory and his knowledge gained through wide reading and observation made him a most interesting conversationalist. Funeral services were held at the home in Maple Grove, February 14, 1929, conducted by Rev. R. D. Atchison, assisted by Rev. Hasenplug. Military rites were observed at the grave, conducted by members of the local post, American Legion..

Summerville, J.A., Catfish P.O., East Brady; was bron near Kittanning, Armstrong County in 1833 and was a son of John and Catherine (Ferguson) Summerville and a grandson of James Summerville and Sarah Scott. The grandfather came from Ireland and settled in Fayette County where he married Sarah Scott. From there he moved west of the Allegheny River in 1795 where he resided until the time of his death, which occurred in 1854. His wife died in 1827. Joseph A. was married in 1856 to Laura Sage of Armstrong County. She died in 1876, leaving a family of six children -- John F., William J., Thompson B., Joel E., Mary A., Maggie C. He then married his second wife Mary C. Scott in 1877. They had five children, Viola, Annie L., Forrest B., Roy Scott, and Denny. Joseph A. settled in Clarion County in 1856 and commenced business life as a teacher. He fitted himself for a physician and then chose farming as an occupation, and is now engaged in that enterprise, and surveying, and is a very prominent man in his county.
