Marion was the 2nd child of
Solomon and Martha Cook and
was born March 20, 1856. Grandson of Hence Marvin Cook.
Each year on the 2nd Saturday of August, the descendants of Marion and Ann meet for a family reunion. For the last couple of years, we have met at Trinity Wesleyn Church on Issaqueena Road between Clemson and Central. This year (2002) we had over 100 friends and family members show up.
Our reunion is called the COOK-GARRETT Reunion because Ann and Marion's
son Claud married Minnie Rebecca Garrett and their daughter Stella Mae married
Minnie's brother James Fredrick "Fred" Garrett. The children of these two couples
resulted in about 18 double first cousins along with almost that many more regular
first cousins from the other brothers and sisters.
This year's theme was again Preserving Our Cook-Garrett Heritage.
Everyone was asked to bring heirlooms to display including pictures,
quilts, furniture, hobbies and crafts. There were a least 6 large
tables filled with memories. Micheal Hunter prepared a family tree chart
that was almost 50 feet wide showing the various familys on the Bone
branch of the family.
We have had several set of twins in our family.
