MAYFIELD (registers start at 1576 and are quite difficult to read)
Sampson buried 1598 (listed as Dampson on Staffs burial index) and we have his will
Elizabeth, Sampson's wife buried 1596 (from 2 sources)
Sampson buried March 1599 – have his will

ELLASTONE
Sampson had children: Helen 1556-8, Jacob 1560, Henry 1566, Sampson 1568 (gap in registers from 8 Jan 1570/1 to 29 Jan 1573/4 – pages missing) (check BTs)
Sampson buried 1596 (2 sources)

Humphrey - will 1562 which lists son Sampson, daughter Agnes, plus Margaret and John, & is witnessed by Roger C., had a brother/cousin Richard who left a will at West Hallam 1617 (see will of 1562 10 Apl Cauldon), cousin to Thomas who died 1639

2 Copestake families lived in tented properies formerly owned by Croxden Abbey which were then sold on to John Broxolme and John Bellowe.  I think this was possibly in Ellastone village as the water mill that is mentioned is still there and that Ellastone was considered to be in Caldon in 1545 and before.  … “Caldon, county Stafford, and lands there in the tenure of Robert Copestake, ….  James Copestake and his wife Agnes and son John ….”

Thomas Capstake, a kinsman of the Earl of Westmoreland (1591), Roger Kapestake, the King’s Bailiff and Collector of Gryngeleye and Wheatlye (I think in Nottinghamshire) (1553-5 from papers of the Ducatus of Lancastriae), deputy-surveyor Capstock (1596). 

 

1596 Commend him to Burghley's consideration.

 His service in discovering the great deceits of the substitute-escheator Boyle, the deputy-surveyor Capstock, and others their confederates. [Could this be the same as thew Thomas Capstake mentioned in the 1591 intelligence report re Scotland? Ie good guy found to be a Catholic sypathiser] NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, Gryngleye and Wheatleye.
