Silas Ellery MY 2XGREATGRANDFATHER

Silas Ellery my GREATGREATGRANDFATHER born in St. Columb Minor. This is the earliest photo I have of an ELLERY ancestor

.

Silas Ellery with 3rd wife in 1907

The picture above was taken of Silas Ellery with his third wife Mary Warmington. The picture is taken in Newquay. The building in the background has been identified as what is now called the Hotel Bristol. The picture below also shows Silas at around the same date. Sat next to him are Mr. James Carne (a neighbour) and Mr. Brenton. At the back are Mary his wife, Emma his daughter, William his son who was visiting from New Zealand. William's wife Emily Brenton and Emily mother standing on the right with her had on husbands shoulder. We are lucky in that the person who owned this photo remembered to put the date on it was taken on 5th June 1907

  New Zealand Ellerys

This picture is of William Brewer Ellery and his family in New Zealand. You can see they had large families in those days. Many of his descendants still live in the area around the town of Geraldine. This photo was dicoved behind the photo of Silas and Mary on the pony and trap (see above)

This year (2002) we had a visit from Vern Ellery who is descended from the Brewer Ellerys
