Excellent resources and large database on computer. This should be your first port of call before Record Office. It might save you a lot of time

ploughing through parish records,census etc and wasting precious time. You can then reinforce the information by going to the correct Parish.

They also have pedigrees, GRO Indexes on fiche, IGI,Census, transcripts of some PR's etc. Opening hours(to date) 10 to 4 on Monday. Closed Tuesday and Sunday.Rest of week including Saturday 11 to 3. No booking required but come early as it gets busy most days.. Very convenient as it is in the town centre.

About 15 mins walk from town centre-on top of steep hills if you have problems walking !

Fax 01872 270340. Search Room closed on Monday. Tues to Thurs 9.30 to 1 p.m. 2p.m to 5p.m. Friday 9 a.m. to 4.30p.m. Sat 9 a.m. 12 noon.

It is essential to book and also bring some form of identification with you: driving licence,passport etc. It closes every Bank Holiday and preceding Saturday. Usually closed for first two full weeks in December and a few days over Christmas & New Year. So essential to check.

The Courtney Library, Royal Institution of Cornwall,River St,Truro TR1 2SJ. Tel.01872. 272205. Not necessary to book but wise to telephone

beforehand as they only have a couple of film readers and small amount of desk space. Very helpful staff and it is situated above the museum

which also has a bookshop.

Cornish Studies Library,Clinton Road,Redruth,TR15 2QE. Tel 01209 216760.

Essential to book if you want a film viewer. GRO on film, Newspapers and all Cornish Census plus another Aladdin's cave of Cornish information.

Morrab Library, Penzance no up to date information on them at the moment but if anybody wants to visit then I can find out for you, as it is ages

since I have been.

There is an LDS Family History Centre at Clodgey Lane,Helston. Tel 01326 564503

Opening days can vary but open on a Tues,Wed and Friday 10 to 4. Mondays,Thursdays possible but closed every week-end. Friendly,helpful

staff. Booking not essential and but it gets busy.
