This family finds its origins in Uppsala diocese where the progenitor, Ericus Olai Helsingius was vicar. He was born 1507 in Hälsingland, died 1591. His children assumed the name Acrelius from the vicarage Österåker. He had issue a son, Israel Erici Acrelius, born 1549, vicar of Ununge, died 1627. His son, Olaus Israelis Acrelius, born 1569, vicar of Österåker, died 16 September 1646, married Margareta Johansdotter (born 1597, died 1657). They had issue a son, Johannes Olai Acrelius, born 26 January 1634 at Österåker vicarage, died 1 January 1711, buried 15 January 1711, married Cecilia Ulriksdotter von Bremen. Their son, Johannes Johannis Acrelius, born 19 January 1676, vicar of Österåker, died 9 May 1718, buried 24 June 1718, married 6 February 1712 at Österåker to Sara Gahm (born 13 February 1681, died 3 November 1741, daughter of Israel Gahm and Sara Jüterbock). They had issue a son, Olof af Acrel, born 26 November 1717 at Österåker vicarage, ennobled 1 November 1780, died 28 May 1806 at Stockholm, buried 20 November 1806 at Österåker church, married 22 January 1747 to Anna Robert (born 1718 at Stockholm, died 1 February 1771 at Stockholm, daughter of Elias Robert and Elisabet Susanna Morgange). They had issue a son, Johan Elias af Acrel, born 11 August 1749, died 25 August 1750.
