There are several web sites which deal with
some of the names covered
in
my One Name Study. Corser is particularly
well served, with a dedicated web site, a forum,
a message board and a genealogy centre,
while Causer has three sites and Courser has two sites. Richard Corser of Hartlepool, England, has a web site dedicated to the name Corser, which is gathering material from around the world. Corser web site The commercial site Genealogy.com under its Genforum section has name Forums where people looking for ancestors can post the subject of their search in the hope that someone will make the connection. There are Forums for Corsaw and Corser. Corsaw Corser Couser Cowser Genealogy.com and its FamilyTreeMaker.com section also have what are called Family Homepages for three of the names in my One Name Study. Causer Causa Kauser The site SurnameWeb has what it calls surname genealogy centres. There are six which deal with names covered by my One Name Study. There doesn't appear to be much on them as yet, but anyone who feels like contributing is invited to do so. Corser Causer Cawser Corsair Corsar Corsor |
A
site called Linkpendium, under the auspices of Rootsweb, now provides a
handy listing of all sites dealing with specific surnames. The
following names in my study are included: Corser Causer Cawser Corsar Causier Courser Corsier Corzor Corvisier Corvaisier Cowser Corsaw Courcier |
I have so
far found four sites which deal with specific families. I
would
be very interested to hear of
others - if
you have created one let me know so that I can include it
here. William S Corser of Miami, FL, has started a web site about his book "Profiles of Our Civil War Ancestors" , dealing with his Corser and Morehart ancestors' involvment in the War of the Rebellion - one of the many names by which this war is known. Civil War Corsers Geoff Kurth has created a web site for his brother-in-law Norman Causer and his wife Bethli, detailing their branch of the Causer family in the UK, which includes a tree going back to 1668. Causers Martin Robson Riley has created a web site devoted to the Causier families of Dunchurch, Dodderhill and Droitwich, in Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Causier |
There are some genealogy software and other
genealogy sites which I
have
used and recommend.
I have no connection with these sites other than
being a satisfied
customer! For my One Name Study I use a program called Custodian which is excellent. Custodian I use two connected programs, to keep details of individual Family Trees and to draw drop-line charts, produced by a firm called Spansoft. Spansoft The Rootsweb site is full of information and links, and well worth a visit. Rootsweb For more information about One Name Studies generally, and to see what other names are the subject of such studies, the Guild of One Names Studies has a site. GOONS |
