Ireland on May 11, 1920, died unexpectedly yet peacefully at St. Paul's
Hospital on Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at the age of 84, with his son and
daughter-in law at his side. Robbie is survived by his loving son Dennis and
daughter-in-law Jane; beloved granddaughters Shannon and Melissa. With his
parents, 2 brothers and sister (all predeceased), he emigrated to Storthoaks,
Sask. in 1928. He was a member of the R.C.M.P. from 1941 until 1966,
retiring as a Staff Sgt. (Special Branch). He joined the B.C. Securities
Commission in 1966 as an investigator and retired in 1980 as a Deputy
Superintendent of Brokers. His honesty and integrity in his professional and
personal lives brought him respect and many life-long friends from all walks
of life. He was a talented furniture maker and a handyman who was generous
with his time in helping others. A memorial service will be held on Friday,
September 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Marpole United Church, 1296 West 67th
Avenue (at Hudson Street), Vancouver with Rev.
Rick Taylor and Rev. Diana Sung officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make
a donation in his memory to a charity of your choice.

FRIZELL (Bill) passed on peacefully at St. Vincent's, Langara on
January 17th, 2004, predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Beulah, his
parents, two brothers and one sister. Bill was born on November 25th, 1907
in Dungannon County Tyrone, Ireland. Bill joined B.C. Pulp & Paper in 1927
and settled in Port Alice. Bill's 45-year career as a company accountant
took him from Port Alice to Woodfibre and Vancouver Head Office with
Rayonier Canada. He and Beulah retired in Vancouver, where he became
involved in the Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Association. His daughter Lynne
Erin, son-in-law Arthur McNamara of Sydney, Australia and brother Noel of
New York survive Bill. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 02:30
PM, Monday, January 26, 2004 in Coast Plaza Hotel, 1763 Comox Street.

church family, as well as those he came into contact with. He will be
lovingly remembered by his wife Jean of 55 years, daughter Deirdre (Robert)
Poirier, sons Brian (Marion), Lliam, and Niall (Angela); and grandchildren
Anna, Matthew, Kendal, Charmaine, Chelsea, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Arthur, and Keir.
He will be dearly missed by friends, colleagues, and patients. He practiced
medicine in Port Coquitlam for
35 years, ministering to many lives. The family wishes to thank the many
healthcare personnel, and friends that supported and encouraged during his
time of failing health. Arthur loved to spend time with
friends; especially reaching out to those in a time of need. He loved to
tell stories, laugh, read, golf, and take time to appreciate God's creation.
He was a loving family man. A memorial service will be held
at 1pm on January 9, 2008 at Willingdon Church, 4812 Willingdon, Burnaby. In
lieu of flowers donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission.

Maureen PATRICK October 27, 1946 - May 20, 2013 With broken hearts we
announce the passing of Maureen "Moe" Patrick after a brief, hard-fought
battle with cancer. Maureen grew up on a farm in County Tyrone, Northern
Ireland, the youngest child of six. She attended a very primitive one room
school as a child and took up the trade of hairdresser as a young adult. She
obtained work on a cruise ship and traveled to exotic places all over the
world. In 1979 she moved to Canada and continued working as a hairdresser,
starting friendships that would last decades and putting down roots. Here
she met the love of her life, Dave, supporting his various unique endeavours
and becoming a warm and loving stepmother to his three children, Adrienne,
Leanne, and Kevin. To know Moe was to love her. She was truly beautiful
inside and out. She ran into someone she knew everywhere she went. She was
nurturing, generous, and always lending a helping hand. Moe was a
trustworthy confidante yet avoided talking about herself or asking for help
at all costs. She never complained. She felt genuine concern for those down
on their luck and quietly fundraised for many charities. An amazing hostess,
Moe held legendary parties and she and Dave warmly welcomed everyone into
their home and hearts. As their children found partners, their family grew
to include David, Michael, and Sarah. Moe was heartbroken when Dave passed
away in 2009. She actively kept his spirit alive, encouraging environmental
awareness, for one small example. Despite suffering such a significant loss,
she did her best to live life to the fullest and treasured many special trips with family and
friends over these last several years. The twinkle in Moe's eyes also
brightened considerably with the birth of her first grandchild, Drew. She
called him "the best boy in Delta" and did anything she could to make him
smile. Moe was furthermore fortunate to meet her two granddaughters this
spring, Ava and Madeleine, and enjoyed the comfort of newborn smells and
snuggles. Moe looked on the positive side of everything and was always the
first to poke fun at herself when she did something "the Irish way". She had
an undeniably green thumb and maintained a beautiful garden. At heart she
truly remained a country girl even after living in Vancouver for 35 years
and loved gathering berries to make jam which she gave to her many friends.
Her best friends Fred and Keala will miss her terribly, as will her
Annieville neighbours, hairdressing friends and golfing pals, many of whom
were akin to family. Maureen will be lovingly remembered by brother Robert;
sisters Eveline, Mabel, Kathleen, Anne; their spouses and many nieces,
nephews and "greats," including: Ian, Ruth, Stephanie, David, John, Colin,
Lara, Andrew, and Paul. She will further be missed by mother-in-law
Lorraine, sister-in-law Laurie, brother-in-law Gord, and nephews Colin,
Evan, and Jeremy. Thank you to the compassionate nurses and staff at Peace
Arch Hospice who became part of Moe's extended family over these last four
months. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating to the White Rock
Hospice Society. A small graveside ceremony will take place at Boundary Bay
Cemetery on May 30th at 11am. In celebration of Moe's life, an open house
will be held at her residence on Sunday, June 2nd between 1-4pm. Family,
friends, and neighbours are welcome to drop in and share a story or two
about Moe. We love you Moe and we'll miss you so much.

Dr. Michael (Mickey) JamesQUINN. It is with sadness that the family of
Michael James Quinn announces his death at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby,
BC on January 10, 2005 at 1:10am, at the age of 87 years. Michael was born
in Ardboe, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland on September 27, 1917. He emigrated
to Canada in 1927 with his parents and four other siblings. Michael was
predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Hugh Quinn of St. Brides, AB. His
two brothers, Hughie and Felix, his two sisters, Maggie Trimmer, Sally de La
Salle, as well as his first wife Mary and his second wife Laura. Michael is
survived by four sisters, Mary Ann Ingram, Teresa Young, Rose Sutherland,
Brigid (Jerry) Desjarlais, sister-in-law Terry Quinn, brother-in-law
Laurence Sutherland, numerous nieces and nephews and his companion Helen
Pylypuk. The family acknowledges with thanks, the care that Dr. Lam and her
oncologist staff at Burnaby Hospital gave to Michael and to St. Michael's
Hospice Staff for their kind and loving care. We would also like to say
thanks to Mike and Boba, care takers of Nelson Towers where Michael lived
for 20 years for being there for Michael in his final days. Michael has
requested a private service; cremation will take place with interment of
cremated remains at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby on

Albert Thomas SMYTH February 8, 1924 October 13, 2007 It is with heavy
hearts that we announce the passing on October 13th of our `Go-to-Guy.'
Albert leaves his wife Maida after 56 years of an amazingly loving and supportive marriage, his daughter and son-in-law Bev
and Chuck Lohm, grandchildren Jeff and Carissa Lohm, Shannon and Paul
Leadbeater and great-granddaughter Rachel Leadbeater, sister Gladys Noort
(Bill) and brother Aubrey. Grandsons-of-the-heart are Owen Coulter & Mike Wainwright. Albert came with his family to Canada in 1925 from his
birthplace in Castlederg, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, settling in Port
Coquitlam in 1934. A tank driver/mechanic in WWII serving in the
Netherlands, he spent a year at university in London before returning home
to PoCo. He worked at Essondale until 1957 when he became Business Manager
for Haney Correctional Institution. The last few years of his career was as
Regional Business Manager for BC Corrections. An active member of Trinity
United Church for more than 70 years, Albert's second family was the church
choir. When he wasn't heading out the door with his toolbox to help someone, he enjoyed bowling, curling and beating us all at crib. He travelled extensively but his paradise on earth was his cabin at Green Lake in the Cariboo. We will miss Albert's gentle strength, wisdom, sense of humour, quick wit and the twinkle in his eyes but we will hold him in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hasham and the staff at Elgin Medical and Eagle Ridge Hospital for taking such good care of him. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 2211 Prairie
Ave, PoCo on Thursday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may

Gordon Malcolm TENER November 24, 1927 - September 7, 2008 Our brother,
uncle and friend ended his life's journey in Vancouver close to where he
lived and worked for most of his 80 years. Gordon pursued a life of science
and research (including U. Wisconsin and U. Auckland) and was for several
decades a Professor of Biochemistry at UBC and a biomedical researcher.
Gordon greatly enjoyed the successes of his research colleagues and his
students alike. He was part of a real company of adventurers in early days
of genetic research and was counted as contributing not only valuable
procedures but adding much to the spiritual and intellectual well-being of
the group at UBC (which included Drs. Jack Campbell, Gordon Shrum, Ian
Gillam, Nobel Prize Researchers H. Gobind Khorana and Michael Smith and
others, all of whom he counted as friends). Never married, Gordon was a
loved
Uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by father John F. Tener
(in turn, son of John Frost Tener born Co. Tyrone), mother Charlotte Evelyn
Tener and brother David. He was a beloved brother to sisters Kathleen in
Penticton, Doreen (Paul) in Merritt, Veronica in England, sister-in-law
Trudy in Langley as well as brothers John (Josie) in Ottawa and Robert
(Jean) in Calgary. Gordon enjoyed music and photography, was a prolific
reader and a member of the RVYC. Having travelled the world during his
working years, he loved the British Columbia coast where he found great
beauty and enjoyment, first of all camping with the Jack Campbells and then
exploring waters from the Gulf Islands to the Broughtons aboard Larus I,
Larus II and Corax. He shared these times with all who would come, imparting
humour, life experiences and lessons. In the words of Masefield, he had
merry yarns from many laughing fellow rovers, friends and family alike.
Gordon supported the B.C. Cancer Foundation (in memory of friend Michael
Smith). The family expresses great thanks to caring staff at the VGH Neuro
Unit, at UBC's Purdy Pavilion TCU, Nurse Next Door Care Agency and Marion
Hospice. A quiet sleep and a sweet dream Gordon, your long trip's over. In
his own words "It was a `very good' life".
