AN INTERESTING FAMILY HISTORY

On Tuesday last the remains of the late MRS. PERRY, Cloughfin, were interred in Urney graveyard. She is the last of a family who owned immense property over some hundred years ago in Urney. The first of her family was LIEUTENANT JAMES BROWNE, who owned Cormikelly, Magheracallaghan, and three townlands of Fearn, and three townlands occupied by the Young family, Mounthall. It was one of her relatives who occupied the pulpit of Urney Presbyterian Meetinghouse at the Seige of Londonderry – REV. DAVID BROWNE. She was of the family of SIR ROBERT FERGUSON, Bart., by her grandmother, AGNES FERGUSON; and by her mother, SARAH KNOX, she was the fifth generation of JOHN KNOX, the ‘Reformer of Scotland”.
