02. JOHN JACOB HELWICK4
b. 25 Dec 1837, Lycoming Co., PA; d. 28 Jul 1867, Washington Co., IA, age 29 yrs 9 mos 3 days, accidently killed by his team of horses; bur. Roberts Chapel Cemetery; mar. 1867, Washington Co., IA, JULIA ANN BURHAM. At age 24 he enlisted in Union Army 19th IA Infantry Co. C, 09 Aug 1862, along with his brother Edmond, and mustered in 18 Aug 1862. With his brother Edmond, Jacob was taken prisoner 29 Sep 1863, at Sterling Farm near Monganza, LA. Mustered out 10 July 1865, Mobile, AL. Jacob was probably named after his grandfather Jacob Narver. No children? JULIA BURHAM HELWICK mar. 2) 05 Jan 1871, Washington Co., IA, JOHN S. GRAY.

In the 1920 Census Hannah, 80 years, is living with her sister Caroline Helwick Myers Brown at Kalona, English River Twp., Washington Co., IA. She is mentioned in the 1924 obituary of her sister Caroline, and appears in the 1925 IA State Census in Washington Co., IA.  CHILDREN: Amos Durst, Viola Durst, Dora Durst, John Durst, Edmond Durst, Arthur Durst. STEP-CHILDREN: Mark Durst, David Durst, Cluard Durst, Joseph Durst.
