1. Photo Jean Caroline PATON was born on 3 Jan 1903 in Peru, IL.1 She was born at home with the assitance of a midwife. She believed she was named after two of her father's sisters that died young. Gladys Paton Brinovec recalls she was indeed named Jean after one of these children, but that Caroline was chosen because of her father's Aunt Cally (Caroline Paton). She was baptized after 3 Jan 1903 in Congregational Church - Peru, Il.1 She lived in Peru, IL in 1907.1 The home was destroyed by fire shortly after Christmas 1907. The family lost all of their belongings. She lived 2227 - 7th Street in Peru, IL between 1908 and 1922. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Peru, IL.2 She was a worker for Westclox in Peru, IL in 1918.1,3 She worked here until her marriage in 1922. On the 1920 Census her occupation listed is "vibrator" at the Clock factory. She was ill with influenza in 1918 in Peru, IL.1 She nearly died during this national outbreak. After she recovered she suffered from fainting spells for many years. She died on 6 Jul 1984 in St. Margaret's Hospital - Spring Valley, IL. She had been ill for several months suffering from several strokes. She was buried on 9 Jul 1984 in Peru City Cemetery. Services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Peru. Pallbearers were grandsons - Craig, Daniel, David, James, John, Marc, Michael and Thomas Sale. She had diabetes.
