Corley Cemetery
Take Hwy 208 east out of Talbotton for 5 miles. Cemetery is one mile east of the Mt Zion
Church, some distance back of the ruins of the Mason-Baldwin house on the left. No markers.

Mrs. Baker Baldwin told the author of Rockaway in Talbot about the Corley Family Cemetery,
some distance back of the Mason-Baldwin house site on State Hwy. 208 east out of Talbotton
for five miles.

David and Nancy Corley, natives of North Carolina and South Carolina, respectively, lived
nearby in 1850. David was 88 and Nancy 84 years of age. Their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth
Corley, 51 born in South Carolina, either lived with her children on the Corley place or had
her own small farm. There are no makers in the cemetery."

From Vivian Price Saffold (who is doing the Meriwether County page) I have the following
information about the cemetery site: "A very nice man at the Talbot County Chamber of
Commerce named Gary Pate gave these instructions on the location of the Mason-Baldwin House.
Take state Hwy. 208 east out of Talbotton for five miles.
The house will be on the north side of the road, one mile east of the Mt. Zion Church which
is on the opposite side of the road.

A Rockaway in Talbot says that Isham Corley's widow, Elizabeth, and her family lived in the
'Talbot family homeplace' after David and Nancy died. This 'homeplace' may be the same as the
Mason-Baldwin House. The house has burned down. A former resident of the house relayed that
the cemetery had no markers but that there was a line of rocks around the perimeter of the
grave sites.
