William b. 1796 >Franklin (Randolph?) b. 1833 >James (F.Franklin?)b.1855 who md. Texanna Peoples >Cleveland Lorenzo b. Nov 1893 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I also have Curlees that stayed in Coosa. I found Cleveland Lorenzo Curlee b. Nov. 1893 as the son ( listed that way on the 1900 Elmore Co., AL census). His parents on that census and by the marriage cert. were James ( Franklin?) Curlee b. July 1855 and Texanna Peoples. They were md. in Elmore in 1888. ( I have these exact dates on FTM) I feel that James is the son of Franklin b. 1833. The rub is that Randolph was b. the same year. Only one child, Randolph was with William and Amy in 1850. By 1860, no Randolph, but Franklin ( same age) is 5 houses away from William and Mary!! So, naturally I feel that Franklin is Franklin Randolph. The family seems to remember a grand. " way back there" named Franklin Curlee. Since James was James F., then the F. could very well be for Franklin. As for Edom R. I never saw him in Coosa. I do have the land entry of 1859, but that was in Randolph Co. I have not found an explanation for "cash entry, however since this is bounty land, it could have belonged to an earlier ancestor. The only Curley or Curlee I have seen that served was James Wilson Curley, from Sumner Co., GA. in 1793. Now the prob. there is Sumter was not a Co until 1833. There was a Sumter Co., SC during that time. Since these Curlees say they were b. in SC. that makes more sense. Anson NC had a Jesse Pinkney Curlee b 1788 who left the area by 1819. Since, Wlm named a son Pinkney and Jesse was used by James, that might be worth following. I have the 1832 Gold lottery with James' orphans, widow, Martha ( could she be James' as well), M., Meredith, William Jr, and Sr. as well as a Benj. Curley. I have their draws, and several are in Paulding Co., GA. I am going to see where they were living at the time of the draw. They had to have been in GA for at least a year before the lottery.
