Various Records from Other Cullumber Families

This is the John Cullumber of Union County, Ohio. Note he was born 1787, Maryland per the 1850 census.  I don't know where he got the land originally. I may not have had the purchasor index to check.  This is from over 20 years ago and I was just going through the films that were available in the Annandale, Virginia FHC.

AMES, COLOMBUR, COLUMBER, CULLUMBER, FRINK posted by Richard A. Hoppis on Tuesday, March 27, 2001
My great grandfather, Lewis Colombur, served in the 101st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company K, during the Civil War. His wife, Mary Elvira (Frink)was widowed when Lewis was killed in the battle of Chickamauga. She subsequently married a man by the name of Ames. I have a world of information about Lewis's descendents but have run into about a million deadends in trying to find information about his ancestors. Lewis seems to have had a brother by name of William, who spelled his last name "Columber". Lewis's mother left a note in a Bible, which she gave to Lewis, where she signed her last name as "Cullumber", but did not sign her first name. I have not been able to locate any person who might have been Lewis's mother or father. This thing is driving me nuts. If anyone out there can provide me with even a shred of information to help my search, I would be greatly appreciative, and most happy to share any information I have about Lewis's descendents and what I know about Mary Elvira (Frink)(Colombur) Ames. Thank you.        rahoppis@cs.com
