The History Of The Boon(e) Family

The Boon family research has been a slow process that has produced

Information on ten generations from abt. 1730 to the present year

2018. There has always been rumor that we were related to DANIEL

BOONE. I have been unable to find any links so far.

I will start with Stephen Boon who was born abt. 1730 in

Springfield, North Carolina and had thirteen children. One

( child #4) was John Boon. He was born abt.1767 in Springfield,

NC and died in 1831. He married twice. His first wife was

Sally Wilkins, daughter of James and Phency Wilkins. His second

wife was Dorcas Chesnutt, married 24th November 1795 in Sampson

County,NC. She was the daughter of Charles Chesnutt and Julia

Driver. They had nine children.One(child#3)was John Boon. He

was born abt 1796. He married Rachel Porter on the 15th April 1831

in Duplin County, NC. They had eight children.One(child#3)was

Stephen Boon. He was born on the 14th of March 1833 in Sampson

County,NC and died 2nd January 1912. He is buried at Wells Chapel

Cemetery, Harrells,Sampson County,North Carolina. He married Sarah

C Howard on the 13th of December 1866.

Stephen was a coporal in Company A,Regiment 30th Infantry,North

Carolina in the Confederate Army from 14th April 1862 till 29th May

1865. He was wounded and captured 1 July 1862 at Malvern Hill,

Virginia and released on exchange 16th July 1862 at Aikens

Landing,Va. He was captured again 12 May 1864 at Spotsylvania

Court House,Va., confined at Point Lookout, Md. and Elmira, NY.

Released the 29th of May 1865.

They had seven children. One(child #4) was Thomas Martin Boone.

He was born 23rd December 1873 in North Carolina and died the

2nd of October 1928 in Sumter, South Carolina. He married Mary

Jane McLeod in 1895. They had three children. One (child#1)

was Mildred Jane Boone. She was born the 5th of September 1896

in Wallace,Duplin County,NC and died the 7th of March 1947.

She married John Linwood Evans (his second marriage) on the

29th of January 1921 in Sumter, SC. Her nickname was "Nan"

and she enjoyed painting.

They had seven children and from these seven we reach down to great

grandchildren that are living now. My research would not be complete

without the help of my mother Mary Alice Evans Cummings, notes from

Grandmother Mildred Jane Boone Evans, My aunt Lolly Evans Thorne,

and research on the internet, that has brought to me help from so many

other genealogist researching the Boon(e) name. Also info from the

North Carolina State Archives,Federal Census Reports , The Sumter

County Probate Office, The Sumter Genealogical Society, and also from

finding relatives on the internet. A special thanks to Dawn Boone Emery

who through her family connection provided info on Thomas Martin

Boone's siblings.

The latest info found is that one of Stephen Boon's brother

( John Henry)married Susan Emeline Parker. Her uncle Zachariah

Parker married a Kathleen Vann and her brother , Enoch's daughter

( Margaret) married Samuel Boone. His father was Benjamine Boone.

His father was John Boone and his father was Benjamin Boone( Brother

of Squire Boone ) . Squire Boone was Daniel Boone's father. Their

father was George Boone III ,son of George Boone II and grandson

of George Boone born 1615 , England.
