22. Prince Richard Alexander Walter George⁴ Windsor (Henry William Frederick Albert³ Wipper, George Frederick Ernest Albert² Hanover, Albert Edward¹ Wettin) was born Northampton 26 August 1944.⁽²⁵¹⁾

He married Birgitte Eva van Deurs at St. Andrew's Church, Barnwell, Northamptonshire, England, 8 July 1972.⁽²⁵²⁾ This was the parish church of Barnwell, near Barnwell Manor, the home of the duke and duchess of Gloucester. The duke might not have been present if the service was held elsewhere.

Birgitte was born Odense, Denmark 20 June 1946. Birgitte is the daughter of Asger Preben Wissing Henriksen and Vivian van Deurs. She resided Odense, Denmark before 1972. She became engaged to Prince Richard Alexander Walter George Windsor in February 1972. At 28 years of age Birgitte became the mother of Alexander Patrick Gregers Richard Windsor Earl of Ulster London, Middlesex, England, 24 October 1974.⁽²⁵³⁾ At 31 years of age Birgitte became the mother of Davina Elizabeth Alice Benedikte Windsor London, Middlesex, England, 19 November 1977.⁽²⁵⁴⁾ At 33 years of age Birgitte became the mother of Rose Victoria Birgitte Louise Windsor London, Middlesex, England, 1 March 1980.⁽²⁵⁵⁾ Birgitte, as Prince Richard Alexander Walter George Windsor's spouse, lives with him Kensington Palace, London, Middlesex, England. Birgitte, as Richard, Duke of Gloucester's wife, lives with him in Kensington Palace, London, Middlesex, England.

He was christened into the Church of England in the Private Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England, 20 October 1944 by the Most Rev. William Temple, archbishop of Canterbury.
