First Generation

1. Albert Edward1 Wettin, son of H.R.H. Prince Francis Charles Augustus Albert Emmanuel Wettin of the House of Saxe-Coburg Gotha and Alexandrina Victoria Hanover, was born London, Middlesex, England 9 November 1841.(1) Albert died 6 May 1910 at Buckingham Palace, London, Middlesex, England, at 68 years of age.

He married H.R.H. Princess Alexandra Caroline Mary Charlotte Louise Julia Oldenburg at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, Berkshire, England, 10 May 1863.(2) Alexandra was born Copenhagen, Denmark 1 December 1844.(3) Alexandra was the daughter of Christian von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and Louise Wilhelmina Fredericka Caroline Augusta Julia of Hesse-Cassel. Alexandra died of a heart attack 20 November 1925 near Sandringham, Norfolk, England, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in St. George's Chapel, Windsor, Berkshire, England. At 19 years of age Alexandra became the mother of Albert Victor Christian Edward Wettin Windsor, Berkshire, England, 8 January 1864.(5) At 20 years of age Alexandra became the mother of George Frederick Ernest Albert Hanover London, Middlesex, England, 3 June 1865.(4) At 22 years of age Alexandra became the mother of Louise Victoria Wettin London, Middlesex, England, 20 February 1867.(6) Alexandra was ill with rheumatic fever February 1867, after the birth of her third child. This left her with a permanent limp.

At 23 years of age Alexandra became the mother of Victoria Wettin 1868. At 24 years of age Alexandra became the mother of HRH The Princess Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria London, Middlesex, England, 26 November 1869. At 26 years of age Alexandra became the mother of Alexander John Charles Robert Albert Wettin near Sandringham, Norfolk, England, 6 April 1871. Alexandra became Maud Alexandra Victoria Georgina Bertha Duff's godmother at her christening in the Queen's Chapel, St. James Palace, London, Middlesex, England, 22 June 1893.(7) Alexandra was awarded Lady of the Garter. She became the first female given the Order since the daughters of Henry VIII.

Albert Edward Wettin was created the Prince of Wales by his mother, Queen Victoria on 4 December 1841.(8) At 22 years of age Albert became the father of Albert Victor Christian Edward Wettin Windsor, Berkshire, England, 8 January 1864.(10) At 23 years of age Albert became the father of George Frederick Ernest Albert Hanover London, Middlesex, England, 3 June 1865.(9) At 25 years of age Albert became the father of Louise Victoria Wettin London, Middlesex, England, 20 February 1867.(11) At 26 years of age Albert became the father of Victoria Wettin 1868. At 28 years of age Albert became the father of HRH The Princess Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria London, Middlesex, England, 26 November 1869. At 29 years of age Albert became the father of Alexander John Charles Robert Albert Wettin near Sandringham, Norfolk, England, 6 April 1871. Albert became Maud Alexandra Victoria Georgina Bertha Duff's godfather at her christening in the Queen's Chapel, St. James Palace, London, Middlesex, England, 22 June 1893.(12) Albert Edward Wettin, at 59 years of age, accedded to the Throne of Britain and India on 23 January 1901 at St James Palace, London, Middlesex, England. He took the name of Edward VII, instead of King Albert, so that there be no King by the name of Albert, leaving his father as the best known Albert in British history.

Albert Edward Wettin and H.R.H. Princess Alexandra Caroline Mary Charlotte Louise Julia Oldenburg had the following children:

child + 2 i. Albert Victor Christian Edward Wettin was born Windsor, Berkshire, England 8 January 1864.(13) Albert died 14 January 1892 Norfolk, at 28 years of age.(14) He was christened at Chapel Royal, Buckingham Palace, London, Middlesex, England, 10 March 1864.

child 3 ii. George Frederick Ernest Albert2 Hanover was born 3 June 1865.

child + 4 iii. Louise Victoria Wettin was born 20 February 1867.

child 5 iv. Victoria Wettin was born 1868. Victoria died 1935 at 67 years of age.

child + 6 v. HRH The Princess Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria was born 26 November 1869.

child 7 vi. Alexander John Charles Robert Albert Wettin was born near Sandringham, Norfolk, England 6 April 1871. John died of natural causes 7 April 1871 near Sandringham, Norfolk, England, at less than one year of age.
